06 | 2011 - Freedom of choice for recipient to the next level with DPD Pakketservice

Best, 21 June 2011 – DPD Pakketservice has started a test called Interactive Delivery Management, in short IDM. IDM provides consumers with a message stating accurate delivery information well before DPD delivers the parcel for the first time. DPD indicates by email or SMS when the delivery will take place and in what timeframe, from one hour exact. Moreover, the system is interactive. The recipient has the ability to change the date and address of the delivery. This is done in accordance with the sender, who can offer a new service to its customers with IDM. DPD expects the new service to be introduced in the Netherlands in the autumn.

Successful first delivery
More than two years ago, DPD introduced www.nieuwelevering.nl. With this platform recipients can influence the next delivery attempt after a first unsuccessful delivery. An example that now serves as a standard in market. With IDM, DPD takes the freedom of choice for the recipient to a next level and allows recipients to exert influence even on the first delivery.

Recipients determine delivery day and address
“We always strive for an efficient and effective way with the delivery of parcels. Convenience for the recipient is central to this notion. It is generally difficult to reach people at home when delivering parcels. To achieve a first successful delivery, it is important to accurately inform the recipient about the planned delivery. Aside from that, we also offer recipients the opportunity to change the delivery day and ultimately also the delivery address before the first delivery attempt occurs. This way we can successfully deliver the parcels in one go when and where its suits the recipient. Furthermore, in the long run it offers the possibility to immediately have the parcel delivered to a DPD Pakketshop, which consequently enables us to offer the recipient even more service,” as said by Michaël van Ooijen, CEO of DPD Netherlands. With the development of IDM, DPD offers senders the possibility to present their clients – the recipients – with the best service possible. During the test period IDM will be further optimized. DPD expects to begin the phased introduction of IDM in the autumn.

06 | 2011 - DPD Pakketservice & Hardeman BV support Stichting Buitenzorg

Local foundation in limelight with donation of ten thousand Euros

Veenendaal, 6 May 2011 – This afternoon, DPD Pakketservice and project developer Hardeman BV presented a check of ten thousand Euros to foundation Stichting Buitenzorg. DPD Pakketservice and Hardeman BV have joined forces to build a new CO2-neutral site for DPD in Veenendaal. The site is expected to open in autumn 2011. To emphasize the involvement of both parties in the region, they decided to support a regional initiative: Stichting Buitenzorg. Stichting Buitenzorg has been – since 1994-, involved in a broad way with the integration of people with a mental disability. More than one hundred enthusiastic volunteers are involved in this foundation. They are daily engaged in various activities such as the running of a vegetable garden, an animal farm, letting white mourning and wedding doves fly in the air, the club, issuing a quarterly newspaper “De Buitenpost”, the Leisure Circle, the cooking and internet club, and housing corporation Buitenzorg. The amount which DPD Pakketservice and Hardeman BV have donated to the foundation will be spent on a new sound system.

“We are very pleased with this donation and DPD Pakketservice and Hardeman BV very grateful. With this money we can buy a beautiful sound system for our building. Something which will make many people very happy,” as said by Gerrit van de Weerd, Chairman of the Board at Stichting Buitenzorg.

At the Holland Hub in Veenendaal, DPD will combine its activities of the present depot in Ede with a central transfer function throughout the Netherlands. Due to the continuous growth of the parcel service provider in the Netherlands, the capacity of the depot in Ede became inadequate. Therefore they have chosen to extend to a new location. The whole office is executed in an energy neutral manner by means of the most modern techniques of warmth- and cold recovery.

04 | 2011 - DPD Pakketservice continues to stay behind Willem II as twelfth man

Best/Tilburg, 15 April 2011 – The season finale of the Premier League season 2010- 2011 is with only four matches to go almost over. DPD Pakketservice has been Willem II’s jersey sponsor since the start of this season. It is well known that the team has not had an easy year. Moreover, there was a recent announcement stating that Willem II and their coach Gert Heerkes would not be finishing the season together. However, no matter what will happen during these last matches, the parcel service provider has just announced that they will continue to stay behind Willem II, under the same conditions, as twelfth man coming season.

DPD operates as a national and international parcel service provider and is committed to long-term relationships. “DPD considers mutual trust the base of every relationship. We strive to not only acquire long-term relationships with our customers, but also with all our partners. We believe that you should continue to support each other as partners through the good and bad times. Therefore, we will continue to stay behind Willem II as their jersey sponsor coming season and call upon our co-sponsors to do the same,” said by Robert van Straaten, Director Marketing & Sales van DPD Nederland.

Positive impulse

The DPD headquarters is located in Brabant and as an organization DPD feels strongly connected with this county. The name of DPD Pakketservice will be proudly adorned on Willem II’s upcoming season jersey. “By means of this support and the support of other sponsors, we continue to build the future of Willem II. This should give Willem II a little nudge in the back,” explains Robert van Straaten. Something which Jan van Esch General Director, Ad Interim Willem II completely agrees with: “The faith that DPD has in us and their support is very much appreciated. We are very pleased to hear that DPD will continue to stay behind Willem II as jersey sponsor coming season and keep supporting us. We have experienced a very difficult season. This decision of DPD gives us a tremendous boost.”

04 | 2011 - DPD ‘Direct Connect Europe’ expands with three new destinations

A fast, cheap and sustainable way of parcel delivery service within Europe

Best, 14 March 2011 – DPD Pakketservice expands its ‘Direct Connect Europe’ road line, previously known as ‘Direct Line Haul’, with three new European destinations. Next to France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Norway will be added to the list of destinations. With this, DPD makes use of its close international European road line network. DPD Direct Connect Europe distinguishes itself by creating a short time lead of operations on the road. This saves money and also ensures a reduction in CO-emission.

The supply and delivery routes, also known as ‘linehauls’, lead directly from The Netherlands to various European destinations. Because there are no stops at intermediate depots and transfer points, this results in a faster time lead of only two days and a very reliable delivery of parcels.

No unnecessary payments
This direct road line of DPD not only offers significant advantages in terms of the time lead, but also saves a lot of money. “DPD chooses for transport only by road and charges the regular DPD CLASSIC (by road) rate, which is much cheaper than the Express services that are usually executed by air”, explains Michael van Ooijen, CEO of DPD Nederland. “We make sure that the parcels of our customers are successfully delivered without unnecessary costs. This, next to a fast time lead is of course very interesting for our customers,” concludes Michael van Ooijen.

Responsible choice
When it comes to driving, DPD drives as responsible as possible. Road transport has the advantage that it is less damaging to the environment compared to Express services by air. In fact, a huge reduction of CO₂ emission thereby takes place. With the ECO Calculator, available on the website of DPD, customers can easily calculate what the difference in CO₂ emission is when delivering by road takes place compared to Express services by air. Next to the introductions of the LVZ eco combi, the Mercedes-Benz Vital E-CELL and the CNG vans for inner-city transport, this new road line is the ideal implementation for international deliveries and at the same time seamlessly connects with DPD’s sustainability policy.

01 | 2011 - DPD Pakketservice expands with new board member

Toon Vos (38) new Director Operations & IT at DPD Pakketservice
Best, 20 January 2011 – DPD Pakketservice is expanding with the appointment of Toon Vos as new Director Operations & IT. Here he is functionally responsible for all operational activities at the depots and directly responsible for the (Inter) National Transport Network, Central IT and Business Intelligence. With this appointment, Vos is also part of the board of directors of DPD Nederland.

Vos (38) has ten year of experience in the logistics sector. Early in his career he was involved in projects within the fields of logistics, organization and economics at The Greenery B.V. Subsequently he was responsible for the operation of the distribution of fresh products at the site of Barendrecht, a distribution centre of 40.000 m² with warehousing and the processing of fruit and vegetable (AGF) products. Within this position, he led a team of 110 permanent employees and an additional team of 300 temporary workers.

Asset for the board
“His knowledge of the industry, his background in logistic management and his experience with the operational side of an organization make Toon a great asset for the board of directors of DPD Nederland,” as said by Michael van Ooijen, CEO DPD Nederland.

01 | 2011 - DPD Netherlands starts CNG-pilot

Parcel service provider continues the way towards sustainable driving
Best/Joure, 19 January 2011 – DPD Pakketservice has started the New Year with a pilot of CNG vans in collaboration with Holwerda Distributie en Transport. The parcel service provider will operate daily with three Mercedes-Benz CNG vehicles in the region Joure. These vans use the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) technology and run entirely on natural gas. With this pilot, DPD is taking the next step in the development of sustainable driving.

The pilot is an initiative of DPD Pakketservice and Holwerda Distributie en Transport. Both parties have worked together before, initiating a LVZ eco combi. Holwerda Distributie en Transport is responsible for the DPD parcel delivery within the catchment area of Friesland operating from the depot in Joure. “County Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe see a future in ‘green’ driving and because of that Joure is the ideal location for the CNG pilot. DPD wants to contribute to the realization of these counties’ ambition to have a hundred thousand vehicles running on sustainable fuels by 2015”, as said by Michael van Ooijen, CEO van DPD Nederland.

Co₂-emissions reduced by 20 to 25%
By having vans run on natural gas instead of gasoline, it is possible to realize a reduction of 20 to 25% in Co₂-emissions. The distance that the CNG vans can cover is limited to 270 - 300 km per day. These vans are therefore ideal for inner-city transport. This sustainable mode of transport is not only beneficial to the environment but also for the parcel service provider’s drivers, as they are thus less exposed to harmful Co₂-gases.

Next step
DPD Pakketservice is constantly looking for new opportunities when it comes to creating a sustainable environment, both in terms of transport as in distribution sites. The new distribution centre of DPD in Veenendaal and Etten-Leur are nice examples of this. The offices in these centers are designed in such a manner that they are completely CO2-neutral. In addition, DPD has previously introduced the LVZ eco combi and the Mercedes-Benz Vital E-CELL. Both these vans and the CNG vans emphasize DPD’s focus on sustainable transport.

02 | 2006 - Latest security warning: Internet and telephone fraud

Unfortunately attempts at fraud on the internet and the telephone have now almost become an everyday affair. Again and again criminals try to gain access to customer data or money by misuse of the DPD name.

For example a number of phone calls have been reported recently in which a third party claims to have to compare data on behalf of DPD (or Chronopost) before a parcel can be delivered.

If you receive such a call, please be very careful. DPD does not make any calls to compare data.

If customers provide their data, there is a risk that third parties will shortly afterwards invoice them for services which have not been ordered and which have no connection with DPD's services (e.g. telephone chat subscriptions).

On the internet, too, third parties repeatedly use emails to gain access to sensitive customer data. Most recently there have been isolated incidents of fraud through the misuse of DPD’s name. DPD customers have received e-mails demanding that a certain amount of money be transferred into a bank account as an advance payment for services. Not until they do so, they are told, will certain parcels be delivered.

On no account should you grant this request!

DPD does not ask for advance payments. Furthermore, we do not charge for parcels or goods, only for transport services. The exception to this is the cash-on-delivery shipment, in which the customer pays for the goods, but not until they are delivered; never in advance. Please contact us immediately if you receive an e-mail requesting an advance payment.

In case of doubt please send a email to marketing@dpd.nl.
We hope that this warning will help to protect you against criminal offences.
Thank you for your support.

Best regards, DPD
