Electronic customs declaration
As from July 1st 2009 handwritten customs declarations are no longer accepted by the Customs Authorities. From this date only electronic declarations are allowed. This applies to all export countries in Europe (for example Switzerland, Norway, Serbia etc.) and is applicable to parcels which have a value of € 1,000 or higher and are without an export declaration or have a handwritten declaration.
In order not to interrupt the flow of parcels to the appliclable destinations DPD can take care of the customs clearance procedure. However, the sender is not obliged to have DPD submit the export customs entry. DPD only offers this option when the sender does not have the possibility to have it performed by other parties. For this service we charge you € 27 per shipment/declaration.
Authorisation
When DPD submits the export customs entry, the sender must issue a single authorisation ‘direct representative’. With this authorisation the customs entry will be submitted for the sender. However, this implies that the sender always remains responsible for the export declaration. DPD does not take over this responsibility.
In the authorisation ‘direct representative’ the sender or selling party should fill out the data on page 1 (Principal / party directly represented) and page 3 (principal, lawfully represented by). With the authorisation a copy of an identity document (private person) or a recent excerpt of the entry of the company in the Trade Register (business) should be enclosed.
If the sender has already been registered, a new authorisation is not necessary.
