04 | 2010 - DPD (Pegasus) Romania subcontracts QPACK business

Bucharest, 14 April 2010 – DPD Romania, one of the five leading parcel shipping operators launched a partnership with local courier QPACK consolidating its position on the Romanian CEP market. Joining the international group DPD, number 2 in Europe in the courier sector, Pegasus continues its extensive development, subcontracting the activity of QPACK and also taking over the customer portfolio.

The representatives of QPACK ROMANIA considered this partnership as a beneficial move for their company which was dealing with a difficult situation during the recent instable economic conditions.

„Becoming subcontractors of the main market players is a solution for small companies during this difficult financial period in order to avoid leaving the market. This is an option that will prove profitable both for DPD and QPACK” stated Lucian Aldescu, C.E.O. of DPD (Pegasus) Romania and president of A.O.C.R. (The Romanian Courier Operators Association).

„DPD is number 2 in Europe and is backed up by a strong shareholding that confers stability, making it possible to subcontract the activities of smaller companies that are having a hard time to stay in the market. It is possible for other small companies to opt for this solution.” also added the co-founder of Pegasus Courier.

Current customers of QPACK have now access to the DPD services, popular in Europe for the high quality operational system, the international value of the company being recognized for the best-rated services, accuracy of reporting, promptitude of delivery, flexibility for its customers, security and reliability.

DPD owns the leading European road parcel network with the best price-to-performance ratio, step-by-step online tracking of the parcels and the major advantage of road parcel shipping being up to 8 times more environmentally-friendly than air transport.

In Romania, DPD implemented a unique technological system based on parcel distribution through zip codes. This way, the DPD customers benefit from an improved quality of service and an increased security of the deliveries.

DPD C.O.D. – reimbursement delivery service was recently launched in Romania, targeting the e-commerce industry, in which DPD (Pegasus) recorded a considerable growth in the first quarter of 2010.

QPACK recorded a turnover of 4 million RON at the end of 2009, with a staff of 80 employees and a fleet of 120 vehicles.
