Customers talk about DPD

Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG

"The efficient and reliable supply of our trade customers is vital for their everyday business, because these are mainly medium-sized companies which are dependent on flexible but punctual delivery. For this reason we need an efficient partner in the transport field, a partner we have found in DPD. For example DPD impresses with its excellent delivery times and pick-up until 10 p.m.. A 24-hour service is especially important for us, together with a strong international network. All these framework conditions are provided by DPD and for this reason we have continually expanded the cooperation between us over the years."

Peter Zürn, Management Würth-Gruppe, Division Auto International

adidas AG

"As a highly customer-oriented company our main priority is service orientation. We expect the same service from our partners in the transport industry. This means among other things that promised delivery times are met, the complete delivery of shipments consisting of a number of parcels, computer-controlled information about the status of shipments, and simple procedures for our customers in processing returns. DPD can offer us all of these things. This is why we have been working with DPD for over ten years now in our distribution operations in Germany."

Frank Sonntag, adidas Logistics, adidas AG, Distribution Germany

Langenscheidt

"Langenscheidt is a name with a high level of recognition - and this creates obligations {‘expectations’ might be better?}. From the smallest dictionary via CD-ROM language courses to multi-volume works of reference, we deliver to our customers promptly and always just in time. This is of course where DPD plays such a key role. If the product is good the logistics also have to be right."

Michael Hofmann, Director Controlling Thüringer Distribution Langenscheidt

METRO

Since 1996 MGL and DPD have been cooperating closely in the field of supply chain logistics. The task of distribution to MGL's outlets was added in 2001. In concrete terms this means that DPD organises and executes nearly all of the METRO Group's parcel logistics for Germany, Austria and Luxembourg.

In the year 2004 alone we shipped 14.4 million parcels for the METRO Group, from 5,000 suppliers including Bosch, Agfa, Siemens, Casio, JVC ... to over 1,700 outlets of all the companies in the METRO Group, including Kaufhof, Metro C+C, Praktiker, Media Markt etc.

The benefit for the world's third-biggest trading group: considerable savings on space, personnel and costs because no expensive storage operations are required.

Printus GmbH & Co.

"As a specialist supplier of office supplies, our many years of experience and guaranteed quality are trusted by over a million customers. At the same time they expect reliable service and prompt delivery. With DPD and its fast delivery times within 24 hours we can meet these requirements in the best possible way."

Michael Kelsch, Management, Printus GmbH & Co.

Reebok

"DPD is without a doubt a cornerstone of our operations in the international field. At the moment we ship over 1,000 parcels to the Benelux countries on a daily basis and I am very impressed by the reliability of DPD, which offers us service at a high level combined with cost savings. I would have no hesitation in recommending DPD to any company which is looking for a fast and reliable distribution service in the whole of Europe."

Allan Kenny, Logistics Director, Reebok International

Rimowa and DPD: a case study in success.

Suitcase manufacturer Rimowa has worked with DPD for 20 years. DPD delivers between 3,000 and 4,000 parcels each month, containing high quality cases of different sizes. These are sent all over Europe, but also to countries such as Taiwan and Hong Kong.

"With an annual production of 150,000 suitcases it is essential that we have a reliable logistics partner who can fulfil all of our needs completely. DPD has been offering us just that in an outstanding way for 20 years now - an alliance on both a personal and a technical level. Together we have managed to satisfy almost every customer request, including internationally - 15% of our products are shipped outside of Germany. One hundred years of suitcase tradition and 30 years of logistics experience have proven to be a very satisfactory, very fruitful combination."

Thomas Prinz, Authorised Signatory and Operations Manager Rimowa GmbH, Cologne, Germany

For more than 100 years Rimowa has been known as a leading manufacturer of aluminium cases. The company was founded in 1898 and known originally as Paul Morszeck Case Factory. Since then, Rimowa has employed a simple recipe for success: hand-crafted perfection, the best materials coupled with top-level workmanship. Today, Rimowa is known in many countries as a symbol of German quality.

Schlecker

"In May 2000 we launched our Schlecker Home Shopping service on the internet in Germany and Austria. From an order value of 15,- € the goods are delivered free to the remotest corners of the country. Without DPD as a competent logistics partner we would not have been able to implement this project with such success. We benefit at the same time from DPD’s European competence and its innovative solutions for the e-commerce sector."

R. Freudenreich, Management, Anton Schlecker

Sincerity Bridal and DPD: a solid partnership.

Since 1995, the Dutch company Sincerity Bridal has outsourced its European logistics exclusively to DPD. The bridal fashions wholesaler chose DPD specifically because its outstanding performance and far-reaching international network ensure that the wedding dresses are delivered safely and punctually.

"Our biggest sales markets are currently Germany and the United Kingdom, but we have customers all over Europe, from Norway to Spain - and from England to Poland. With DPD we have an extremely reliable parcel service company at our side. In 2006, DPD delivered more than 16,000 parcels for us. The collections that we sell are distributed through exclusive bridal wear shops, and it is very important to us that our parcels are delivered punctually and safely. For this reason, our cooperation with DPD represents a perfect combination. We have been working with them since 1995, and it is an alliance which has proven highly successful and dependable."

Lucas Bakker, European Office and Logistic Manager Sincerity Bridal, Barendrecht, the Netherlands

The company Sincerity Bridal has been a wholesaler of bridal fashions throughout Europe since 1993, and markets three collections: "Sincerity", "Justin Alexander" and "Sarah Danielle" exclusively to bridal wear outlets. The wedding dresses are designed specially for the European market by the company's own designers. Its headquarters are in Hong Kong. Sincerity Bridal in the Netherlands is responsible for selling the three brands throughout Europe.

Uhlsport and DPD: a strong team.

Uhlsport, a sports equipment manufacturer specialising in team sports, has been relying on DPD for 10 years now. Every month an average of 10,000 parcels are delivered quickly and reliably for the company - to sports shops in Germany but also to other European countries.

"The standards we apply to our products, we also apply to our logistics partners. At peak periods we ship up to 40,000 items a day from our warehouse, primarily by parcel service, and for that, DPD is our first port of call. We expect high levels of flexibility and reliability. The sports shops generally want to receive the goods the day after ordering, so we need partners who can keep pace with that. We experience extreme seasonal fluctuations, and fluctuations from one day to the next. Again, we need a service provider who can respond flexibly and uphold our customers' 24-hour service despite the variations. We have worked very closely with DPD for more than 10 years, and we know that we have a partner at our side who knows our needs and who understands us..."

Heiner Löffler, Head of Purchasing and Logistics Uhlsport GmbH, Balingen, Germany

Over the past few years Uhlsport GmbH has grown to become one of the leading suppliers of team sports equipment. The company supplies the European market with the Uhlsport brand for football, its own Kempa brand for handball (suppliers of the current world champions, Germany) and it markets Spalding products for basketball.

European direct transport network for Yamaha Motor Distribution.

Yamaha Motor Distribution is one of DPD's most important customers in the Netherlands, and one of the GeoPost group's biggest international key accounts. For over 10 years now DPD has been shipping spare parts and accessories on behalf of Yamaha Motor Distribution from the company's stores in Amsterdam and Lyon to more than 8,000 dealers within Yamaha's European core markets of Great Britain, France, Spain, Portugal and Italy. Under the ‘Dealer Direct' programme more than 803,000 parcels a year are delivered fast and reliably to make sure that the engines keep on turning over and that business continues to boom.

The requirements
In addition to its central European Yamaha Distribution Centre in Amsterdam (Schiphol) Yamaha in 2001 planned a second distribution centre for Europe in Lyon, France. This resulted in a much more complex distribution and supply chain, while at the same time the aim was to reduce transport costs. This required new, made-to-measure shipping solutions. The objective was to switch transport operations from air to road while at the same time maintaining the high service level and the reliable supply of spare parts to Yamaha dealers.

The DPD solution
In close cooperation Yamaha and DPD jointly developed the idea of a network connecting the warehouses in Amsterdam and Lyon with carrier platforms in several European countries by daily direct deliveries. "To this very day we still refer to this network as the Yamaha backbone", says Albert Jager, Vice President Yamaha Motor Distribution. "It's a perfect example of how we imagine an ideal cooperation with our partners: developing and implementing reliable solutions together, solutions that we know will be effective."

Best practice in international shipping
Today it is not only standard parcels which are shipped through the direct transport network. For the cross-border shipment of spare parts and accessories DPD has for a long time been providing Yamaha with a range of special services such as multi-parcel shipments, Saturday deliveries and time-certain services, which represent a particular advantage in the case of spares. "As a leading manufacturer of motorised products such as motorcycles, scooters, outboard engines, all terrain vehicles, snowmobiles etc. Yamaha strives to achieve the highest level of quality in all its products and services - right up to fast delivery. DPD has conclusively proved it is up to that task" states Albert Jager. "After ten years of working together successfully, we are confident DPD will continue to prove the right choice for Yamaha."
