DPD is the first courier company in Slovakia to respond to the decrease of the consumption tax on oil. Since 1 March 2010 DPD introduced a degressive fuel charge, which would have a direct influence on reduction of the prices for shipping and delivery services.
At present all courier companies bill a fuel surcharge with their shipping prices and its amount depends on a current price of driving fuels. If in the past an average oil price exceeded a certain limit, such increase was projected into the prices by means of adding several percent. Now, with more significant oil price reduction, DPD approached taking into account such a reduction in the way of introducing a degressive fuel charge.
The change shall come into force since 1 March 2010 and a resulting amount for shipping shall be in the invoices reduced by a respective percentage, in accordance with a current average oil price. The average oil price is being monitored by the Statistical Office weekly and we base on its data to specify a percentage which will be deducted in a resulting invoice for DPD services.

The fuel charge shall be updated on the first business day each month in such a way that its amount shall be calculated from the average oil price published by the Statistical Office for a month in question preceding a relevant month which the shipping concerns. All published amounts of the prices for diesel oil in a given month shall be averaged and such an average shall be a basis for the calculation of a fuel charge.

The average of the values is 1.014 €. The amount of a fuel charge would be in such a case – 1 % (minus 1 %) for both domestic and international shipping.
