Brexit

DPD is Brexit ready!

  • On 29 January 2020, the European Parliament ratified the Brexit withdrawal agreement that had been ratified earlier in January by the UK Parliament.

  • As a consequence, on 31 January 2020 the UK leaves the European Union, and the Transition Period as stated in the Withdrawal Agreement begins. It will last until 31 December 2020, allowing the UK and the EU to negotiate a Trade Deal that would be applicable as of 1 January 2021.

  • During this period, nothing changes for trade of goods and services between the UK and the EU. It means goods keep on circulating freely between the UK and the rest of the EU, without customs declarations or controls.

  • DPDgroup will closely follow the progress of negotiations and ensure we are prepared for all outcomes. Above all, DPDgroup will maintain operations as usual between the UK and the EU so that trade continues to be as frictionless and smooth as possible. In DPD’s new head office in Oirschot, a Bonded Warehouse has been set up so that your parcels can be checked quickly and will go through customs easily.  New Brexit proof label tools are rolled out, contracts have been concluded with specialist parties and the range of services has been defined.

Of course you can call on our expertise about the possibilities after a hard Brexit. Feel free to send us an email to [email protected]. We have placed some documents for your benefit.
