Interview with Elia

The voice behind DPD: Our Elia

DPD: How long have you been working at DPD and what brought you to DPD?
Elia: "I've been working at DPD since 16 April 2018, so this is my fourth year with the company. The reasons for coming to DPD were, that I heard that DPD is a large transport company with potential for improvement - as in the customer service. That appealed to me personally."

DPD: What is your area of responsibility at DPD?
Elia: "I have recently been promoted to Team Leader Written in our Customer Service. My responsibilities include coordinating the Backoffice team as well as responding to all kinds of customer concerns, both from our consignees and our shippers. My focus, however, is more on dealing with the enquiries and problems of our shippers."

DPD: You were recently promoted to Team Leader. What do you expect from this new challenge and what are your goals in the new position?
Elia: "My expectations are that in the future the cooperation between the Front- and Backoffice will be even closer in order to ensure even faster processing and resolution of customer concerns, also in connection with the depots.

My personal goal is to bring even more drive into the team with my work, to be a valuable support to my team members and our DPD Customer Service."

DPD: What do you spend most of your time doing outside of work? Do you have any hobbies?
Elia: "The most time I spend outside of work is currently breeding budgies. Why budgies? - I was fascinated by the colourful world of budgies from an early age. It started with one pair. In the meantime, I have more than 35 birds in my cattery. I am also a passionate motorcyclist and like to use my free time to go for a ride in the surroundings or to the racetrack. Mugello and Rjeka are my favourite destinations for a weekend at the racetrack. I like to be outside. Besides motorcycling, I also like to go fishing or do sports, like running or riding a road bike or mountain bike."

DPD: What is the first thing you look for in a stranger?
Elia: "I first look at their manners and appearance. The way they look, how they express themselves, or their behaviour towards each other. For me, table manners and the ability to behave are very important. Personal interaction has to be right. I don't like it at all when someone behaves boorishly."

DPD: Which country/city do you definitely want to see and why?
Elia: "Basically, I'm happy with what I know. I prefer to ride my motorbike and explore new places instead of travelling. City trips, for example, are not my thing. But if I would travel again once, I would like to go to Tenerife to ride my racing bike. I think the island is really beautiful and absolutely worth seeing."

DPD: What has been your biggest success in life so far - professionally and privately?
Elia: "Professionally, my biggest success so far was being promoted to Team Leader. I'm an absolute team player, so I'm even more pleased that the entire team has put their trust in me.

In my private life, my greatest success has been nominated to the Swiss national team in mountain biking. That was at the age of 18."

DPD: If money were not an issue, what 3 things would you definitely like to do?
Elia: "First of all, I would like to start a team in motorsport where I would be the motorcyclist. Secondly, I would invest in medicine so that I could help certain people in my family and thirdly, I would buy my own island, where I can do whatever, I want."
