DPD in North Rhine-Westphalia is affected by renewed strikes

After failed collective bargaining negotiations, the trade union ver.di in North Rhine-Westphalia has again called for strikes within the CEP (courier, express, parcel) industry. DPD is once again affected by this: Today, Friday, our parcel centres in Duisburg, Erftstadt and Vlotho as well as our distribution centre in Unna are expected to be on strike for up to 24 hours.

These strikes will have a direct impact on the Rhineland to the Lower Rhine region as well as the areas around East Westphalia-Lippe and South Westphalia. Among others, the towns of Bielefeld, Düsseldorf, Krefeld, Wesel, Cologne and Duisburg are affected. As a result, many parcels will be delayed because collections and deliveries will not take place as usual.

Due to the long strike within a very large area in North Rhine-Westphalia, there may also be delays in delivery times at the surrounding depots which are not affected by the strike. Effects are possible at DPD's other locations in Anröchte, Essen, Hagen, Hamm, Hückelhoven, Marl, Münster, Wilnsdorf and Wuppertal. In order to minimise the resulting delays throughout Germany, we have already taken measures to redirect some shipments to parcel centres that are not affected. We will reduce any backlogs as quickly as possible.
