DPD Launches Fulfilment Service for Customers

A quick purchase is made in the online shop and the order confirmation goes out to the shopper. But a few steps are still necessary between the conclusion of the purchase contract and the delivery to the online shopper. These include all the logistical services, ranging from receipt of incoming goods and warehousing to order picking and packaging to shipping and returns management. During the corona pandemic in particular, many traditional online retailers experienced enormous growth rates. This meant that their previous storage capacities were no longer sufficient - the garage had literally become too small. The associated workload also requires greater human resources. As a response to this, in addition to its existing shipping services DPD now offers the necessary logistics and fulfilment solutions as a one-stop service.

For small to medium-sized retailers in particular, an end-to-end fulfilment service for shipping goods is an ideal way to outsource certain processes. Whether for bricks-and-mortar shops, experienced online retailers or start-ups wanting to enter e-commerce: by outsourcing specific services, merchants can focus entirely on their actual products and core business.

Connecting the shop and using the services

When an order is received in the online shop, the data is automatically transmitted to DPD. The relevant interfaces enable a smooth transfer of all relevant order data between the seller and DPD. This means that the fulfilment service can start immediately and the goods can be shipped to the customer on the very same day.

Shipping with a tried-and-tested partner

The special features which distinguish DPD's service are late order acceptance, order cut-off (late cut off, late ship), high efficiency through preselection (relationship-based prioritisation of orders for the last mile), as well as fast and cost-effective connection of new customers in accordance with existing market requirements which DPD offers its customers as an additional service. As the second-largest parcel service provider in Germany, DPD has the required capacities to handle orders quickly and flexibly. Here DPD stands out in particular with its late order acceptance and fast order processing after the acceptance deadline.
