For many years now there have been regular drastic increases in crude oil prices. According to the analysts no improvement is to be expected on the market for crude oil in the foreseeable future. On the contrary, a further rise in prices for mineral oil products such as petrol, diesel and kerosene is more likely.
This is a development which has a strong impact on DPD as a provider of transport services, whether these are transport by road within Europe, where the increased cost of diesel seriously affects the operations of a fleet of more than 20,000 vehicles, or intercontinental transport by airfreight, where rapidly rising kerosene prices are having an effect. The latest crude oil prices have to be a factor in our price calculations, because we can only partly absorb these cost increases by improvements in internal efficiency.
DPD is accordingly forced, in addition to the diesel surcharge which is standard for the industry, to make a kerosene surcharge which will apply exclusively to air transport. All the relevant information about the surcharges is collected for you here.
