DPDgroup and PostNord strengthen their strategic partnership

  • Enhanced cross-border solutions for e-commerce to and from the Nordics
  • Access to a network of 46,000 parcel shops worldwide
  • 10 million cross-border parcels shipped every year between both partners

20 April 2020 - DPDgroup, the largest international parcel delivery network in Europe, and the PostNord Group, the leading supplier of communication and logistics solutions to, from, and within the Nordic region, are strengthening their strategic partnership in parcel delivery and announce the signature of a new cooperation agreement for the five coming years.

The renewed partnership aims at further developing a harmonised service between the Nordics and the rest of Europe in order to better meet the expectations of shippers and receivers with a complete range of business, home and out of home delivery solutions.

Both partners offer the densest parcel shop network with more than 46,000 locations in Europe and beyond offering customers unique out-of-home delivery and return solutions in 27 countries.

PostNord entrust to DPDgroup their international parcel volumes shipped from Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland to the rest of Europe and so do DPDgroup from their European network to the Nordics.

Initiated in 2002, the partnership has grown steadily over the past 20 years and relies today on a robust cooperation that connects tightly both parcel networks, offering 1 to 2 days lead time from and to major European cities. Thanks to the partnership, European customers from both companies benefit from a wide range of shipping and delivery solutions from and to all the Nordics countries and ship more than 10 million parcels each year.

The extension of the parcel shop network of both partners is a key asset to accelerate e-commerce business between the four Nordic States and the rest of Europe. As part of the new partnership agreement, international parcel shop deliveries from DPDgroup, ‘2Shop delivery‘, will be available also in Norway, through 1,600 Norwegian 2Shop delivery locations. As of April 2020, all Nordic countries thereby are offering 2Shop delivery as a delivery alternative.

Both partners offer digital interaction with the consignees in order optimise the delivery experience: DPD ‘Predict’ is available to European consumers also on parcels sent from the Nordics. PostNord ‘Flex Change’ service is offered to the Scandinavian consumers on parcels received via the DPDgroup network. Thanks to these services, consignees are informed in advance of the delivery by email and/or SMS and can select the delivery option that suits them best.

“DPDgroup and PostNord have been partners for a long time, and I am pleased to have extended our agreement. For PostNord it is imperative to continue expanding our international activities and the agreement with DPDgroup is a good fit” says Peter Kjaer Jensen, Deputy CEO of PostNord Group.

“Our partnership is a long and successful one. We are enthusiastic to develop further our cooperation and business with PostNord. Our partnership offer DPDgroup’s customers a seamless connection to 25 million consumers in the Nordic region and access to 6,800 local parcel shops” says Boris Winkelmann, Executive Vice President of GeoPost / DPDgroup.

Since 2015, the DPD name is visible on the roads of Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland, with DPD branding on 170 PostNord delivery vehicles reflecting the close cooperation between the partners and the pan-European dimension of their joint delivery service.
