Chronopost appoints Jean-Gilles Henaut as Director of the new Shop2Shop Division

Chronopost, the French leader in the express delivery of parcels weighing less than 30 kilogrammes, has appointed Jean-Gilles Henaut to head up its Shop2Shop Division. This new Division responds to the growing demand in the out-of-home parcel delivery market.

Driven by the growth of e-commerce (BtoC) and consumer-to-consumer (CtoC) transactions, the out-of-home delivery market is expanding rapidly, and consumers are increasingly looking for competitively priced service offers. To meet this need, Chronopost set up the Shop2Shop Division, which has developed new service offers by adapting its operational organisation.

Shop2Shop’s services are available to private individuals and small businesses via a specific portal, as well as via certain CtoC platforms for second-hand clothes and accessories, which are very popular with the French. A new, highly competitive B2C Pickup Point service is currently being developed, which will further complement the broadest range of parcel delivery services available on the market.

Martin Piechowski, CEO of Chronopost, explains that:

"Our core business is undoubtedly express parcel transport, but our strategy is also to seize opportunities and position ourselves in segments with the largest volumes, by targeting the mass market."

Jean-Gilles Henaut the new Director appointed by Martin Piechowski, adds:

"The fundamental principle behind our success is that we take full advantage of Chronopost's industrial facilities by pooling the network’s resources, which provides excellent territorial coverage with around 100 sites and the 15,000 parcel-collection points thanks to our partner network, Pickup. This allows us to diversify while reducing infrastructure costs, and thus provide more competitive service offers."

After spending two years with the Toshiba Group, Jean-Gilles Henaut joined Chronopost in 1996 as Business Manager for the Northern region of France. He became Head of Sales for Eastern Region in 2001, before being appointed Regional Sales Director for the North-Eastern France in 2006 and then National Sales Director in 2014.
