DPD adds 50 new parcel stations and expands 40 existing ones across Estonia

DPD Estonia is continuing their parcel station network expansion in the second half of September. There will be 50 new parcel stations added across Estonia and in addition, 40 already existing parcel stations will be expanded.

"In August, we completed our project to install 100 new parcel stations, which started last year. However, as the demand is high, we will start new work now in September, when another 50 parcel stations will be installed in Estonia and in addition we will expand 40 existing parcel stations,"

said the Country Manager of DPD Estonia, Remo Kirss.

Last year, the DPD network was expanded with 60 parcel stations, and another 41 were added in the first half of this year. With the addition of 50 parcel station this autumn, the number of DPD’s parcel stations in Estonia will increase to a total of 257 stations. In addition, a number of existing parcel station, which have been particularly well received by customers, will be expanded as well.

"When choosing the locations for the parcel stations, we will continue our policy to be as close as possible to our customers. Thus, they will be located in residential areas and smaller settlements all over Estonia, where there even hasn’t been a parcel station before,”

explained Kirss.

More than half of the new parcel stations will be located outside major cities.

In addition to the new parcel stations in Estonia, the DPD network will also be expanded in Latvia and Lithuania. In autumn, 50 new parcel stations will be installed in both countries.

The Country Manager of DPD added that due to the virus, the volume of parcel shipments in DPD increased by almost a million last year. The desire of private customers to receive a package by courier directly to their home has also increased significantly. The number of such orders increased by more than half. DPD's contactless delivery has proved to be very successful, with this the customer can direct the incoming parcel to a suitable place of their choosing. For example, on the terrace of their home, in a garden cart or next to a flower pot in their yard.

Although DPD Estonia's packages have been carbon-neutral for many years, environmental projects will continue vigorously this year as well. At the beginning of the year, seven all-electric vans arrived to DPD's car fleet, now this autumn six more such vehicles will be added. Two of these fully electric vans will start operating in Tartu and one in Viljandi.
