Peak day at DPDgroup following the Black Friday period

DPDgroup broke its daily record, with 12.2 million parcels handled on Monday 29 November Europe-wide, which represents approximately +60% compared to usual daily volumes.

After six months of unprecedented volumes, the growth slowed down at the beginning of the second semester in a context where health measures were lightened, allowing people to go back to a “new normal”.

For Cyber Monday (29 Nov.), DPDgroup broke a new record with 12.2 million in Europe, which represents +27% on average compared to 2019, and +2% compared to 2020. This moderate growth is in itself good performance as most European countries were in lockdown during November 2020, resulting in a boom of on-line purchases.

Depending on market, business units experienced different volume growth: in the Czech Republic, for example, +57%, while in France, the volume growth of Chronopost reached +12%. Outside Europe, Brazil handled +50% growth in parcels. Overall, regardless of the market, these parcels have been handled in a very fluid way, resulting in good service performance.

We remain prepared for further peaks during the Christmas season, and we expect to deliver 350 million parcels across Europe over the complete period.
