DPD CZ expands its network of lockers by 1000 AlzaBoxes

DPD CZ, member of the largest parcel delivery network in Europe, is expanding its existing network of lockers and newly delivers to more than 1,000 AlzaBoxes. Customers can find them all over the Czech Republic and can use them to pick up parcels not only from e-shops. The delivery process that works for existing DPD Pickup Stations remains unchanged and most of the lockers are open 24 hours a day. The lockers are now a part of the DPD Pickup network, which will thus grow to more than 2,500 Pickup parcelshops and lockers.

As the first parcel delivery company on the local market, DPD CZ already opened first 12 lockers (Pickup Stations) last year. They can not only receive parcels, but also send them, for example, to return goods to the e-shop. AlzaBoxes do not offer this shipping option yet, but both companies are intensively working on this and the service should be available soon. Most of the parcels that appear in the lockers are currently shipments from e-shops.

Delivery to the AlzaBox is as simple as delivery into DPD Pickup Station - the customer selects the goods in the e-shop, pays and selects the appropriate locker from the list of delivery options. Before the parcel is delivered, the customer receives a code which they enter directly to the embeded display in the locker.

"Very high popularity of parcelshops and also lockers is a Czech phenomenon. According to our latest E-shopper Barometer survey, we are even second in the usage of pickup points compared to the rest of Europe. Since this trend has significantly strengthened during the pandemic, we wanted to offer our customers the widest possible network, and we therefore welcome cooperation with Alza, which is happening not only in the Czech Republic,"

explains Miloš Malaník, CEO of DPD Czech Republic.

The international scope of cooperation is evidenced by the fact that in May, DPD CZ similarly expanded the network of locekrs to which it delivers in Slovakia as well. More than 500 Slovak AlzaBoxes are now part of the DPD Pickup network.

"We believe that sharing the capacity of a locker by multiple companies is the future of delivery. Also, thanks to our partners, AlzaBoxes are becoming an integral part of smart urban infrastructure and are contributing to the quality of life of residents,"

says Jan Moudřík, director of expansion and facilities at Alza.cz

AlzaBoxes, to which DPD delivers in the Czech Republic, are mainly located in larger cities. But they can also be found in smaller towns and municipalities, such as Broumov, Ivančice, Volyně, Vamberk, Mimoň, Soběslav or Podbořany.
