Jadlog partners with SOS Mata Atlântica Foundation to offset emissions

Through a forest restoration project, the company will donate 2,000 tree seedlings annually for five years, which will offset the carbon associated with the energy consumption of the headquarters and branches and other fuels related to the operation

Focused on expanding its actions in the area of socio-environmental responsibility, Jadlog, one of the largest fractional cargo transportation companies in Brazil and the most used private transportation company by e-commerce, has just established a partnership with SOS Mata Atlântica in support of the Foundation's cause, with the objective of promoting CO2 compensation from its operations, through a forest restoration project to reduce the impact of emissions.

Jadlog's cooperation provides for the donation of 2,000 tree seedlings annually to the project, for five years, considering that, to compensate each ton of CO2 in the atmosphere, the planting of six trees is desirable. At the end of the period, the emission of 1,665 tons of CO2 will be compensated, or 333 tons per year.

This volume offsets the carbon emissions associated with the consumption of electricity at the headquarters, in São Paulo, and at Jadlog's seven branches spread throughout Brazil's capital cities, in addition to the company's consumption of gas and aviation fuel for executives' air travel. It will also offset fleet consumption in document transport operations for the banking sector.

The Atlantic Forest is one of the main reserves for the conservation of biodiversity in the world, and over 90% of the biome is located in Brazil, occupying 15% of the national territory. It is the forest with the greatest diversity of trees per hectare in the world, is home to around 2,000 threatened species of national flora and fauna and is home to over 20,000 species. It is among the most threatened biomes on the planet and various actions are being taken to preserve the remaining 12.4% of its area.

"The partnership with SOS Mata Atlântica is yet another attitude of Jadlog towards corporate sustainability, which, in our case, is focused on greener logistics. Our goal is to increasingly reinforce our commitments to socio-environmental responsibility, the reduction of emissions and greater efficiency in cargo transport",

says Jadlog's CEO, Bruno Tortorello.

Other sustainable attitudes

At the end of last year Jadlog became a member of PLVB (Green Logistics Program Brazil), an initiative of IBTS (Brazilian Institute of Sustainable Transport), which aims to promote corporate social and environmental responsibility in the sector.

PLVB brings together several companies and encourages, among other things, the reduction of atmospheric emissions of greenhouse gases, especially CO2, and Jadlog has been intensifying its initiatives in this direction, especially in capital cities and metropolitan regions.

Since the second half of 2021, the carrier has been using vehicles that emit less carbon dioxide, currently counting on two 100% electric VUC trucks and 4 bi-fuel truck trucks (powered by Natural Gas Vehicle and diesel), besides more than 100 SUVs powered by CNG.

On the route from São Paulo to Brasília, for example, each bi-fuel truck saves 120 litres of diesel per round trip, not emitting 2,760 kg of CO2 into the atmosphere, since each litre of diesel saved corresponds to 23 kg less CO2 in the air. In relation to 100% electric vehicles, which have autonomy in the range of 200 km, due to the battery, the reduction is at least 2,000 kg of CO2 in the atmosphere per month per truck.
