Yamato Holdings and Chronopost partnered
Partnership between Yamato Holdings and Chronopost aiming to share knowhow in order to expand cross-border chilled and frozen food transport between France and Japan
Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. (Tokyo, Japan; President: Masaki Yamauchi) and Chronopost (Paris, France; President: Martin Piechowski), the leading French specialist for express delivery of parcels, and a member of DPD Group, the international parcel delivery network ranked 2nd in Europe, announced that a cross-license agreement was signed on April 6, for the purpose of sharing of knowhow in frozen and chilled transport of the two companies to improve the delivery quality and expand the cross-border frozen and chilled delivery markets in both Japan and France.
In recent years, including Japan, countries in the world actively export their own high-quality agricultural and marine products, aiming to obtain new markets. Especially for Japan and France, their products have been recognized worldwide for their high quality, gaining increasing popularity in Japanese and French restaurants in many countries, among the upper class in particular.
Under these circumstances, it is necessary to enhance the safety and quality standard in order to facilitate the further expansion of cross-border chilled and frozen transport.
2. Frozen and chilled transport of the companies
Yamato Group started the nationwide door-to-door frozen and chilled delivery service for small parcels- ‘Cool Ta-Q-Bin’ in 1988, which contributed to the development of ready-order and direct-from-farm culture. This high quality service has been expanded to the overseas markets in Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia since 2010. In 2013, the world's first international door-to-door frozen and chilled delivery service under constant temperature control International Cool Ta-Q-Bin was launched in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand currently. Yamato Group has also been engaging in the development of the refrigerated delivery market not only in Japan but all over the world. For example February 2017, British Standards Institution (BSI) has issued PAS 1018 which is the first international standard for refrigerated parcel delivery services developed together with Yamato Group and relevant experts.
With a distribution network throughout France, Chronopost has been contributing to the expansion of the chilled and frozen parcel transport market in the country in 2015, by launching Chronofresh, a nationwide chilled and frozen transport network, that provides high quality express delivery service. Since its launch, Chronofresh has already attracted many French B2B and B2C customers, and is opening to Europe, with the deployment of the first parcel to Spain and to Belgium.
