Fuel Surcharge

• Diesel surcharge

In recent months, oil prices have fluctuated dramatically.

Unfortunately, the continued rise in the price of diesel and kerosene now compels us to introduce an index-linked fuel surcharge on the package price.

DPD has introduced a variable fuel surcharge. This means that we will adapt the surcharge to reflect future fluctuations in fuel prices.

• Fuel surcharge for road haulage

The fuel surcharge applies to all national and international products and is based on the average diesel prices including tax and duty. The index-linked surcharge is based on the market price of Brent crude oil in London. Crude oil is the raw material for the production of both diesel and kerosene, and thus serves as an appropriate starting-point for the index for road haulage and air freight. The surcharge is based every month on a rounded average of the market price of a barrel of crude, as published by the U.S. Department of Energy. ( www.eia.doe.gov)

The way in which we calculate the surcharge ensures a fair and transparent mechanism for the fuel surcharge that we charge you, and will be indicated separately on your invoice.

• The fuel surcharge for road haulage applies to the following products:

  • DPD CLASSIC
  • DPD GUARANTEE
  • DPD 10:00
  • DPD 12:00
  • DPD 18:00

• Additional Fuel Surcharge

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has introduced a law and a Grand-Ducal regulation of 17 December 2010 (Mémorial A N° 228 of 21 December 2010) regarding energy products subject to excise duty at a level set by the government. These texts entered into force on 1 January 2011. Under the Grand-Ducal regulation, DPD (Luxembourg) Sarl is required to add a fuel surcharge, which has been temporarily set at 3,5% with effect from 1 April 2011. This surcharge is due to the government's latest regulations, and DPD does not profit from it. If the State decides to change this rule in the future, DPD (Luxembourg) Sarl will adapt this fuel surcharge accordingly. The regular fuel surcharge, which is index-based and calculated to reflect market trends, will not be affected by this change.
