Why is the delivery process to the Wadden Islands different?

DPD uses special island carriers to deliver for us on the islands of Ameland, Terschelling, Vlieland and Schiermonnikoog. This means that our process is organised differently:

Parcels are not provided with Predict service and we deliver these parcels with a 1-2 day delay. This is because:

  • An extra stop is required at the island depot in Leeuwarden.
  • Ferries may be delayed due to weather conditions.During the summer season, there are more island residents and visitors, which means that daily parcels may be transported to the Wadden Islands in two batches, depending on weight/volume. As a result, the second batch may arrive (too) late and only be delivered the following day.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to deliver letterbox parcels to the Wadden Islands via the Online Shipping Portal. Parcels weighing 0-1 kilo are possible.
