DPD assumes responsibility – towards its shippers and consignees as well as its employees and the society within which we operate. Our groupwide DrivingChangeTM sustainability strategy is focused on those areas which are closely linked to our core operations.

Our DrivingChange programme

Our DrivingChange programme

DrivingChangeTM focuses on four priorities where we feel we can make the most meaningful difference within parcel delivery and beyond: by reducing and neutralising our carbon footprint; providing smarter and more efficient urban delivery solutions; driving innovation inside and out; and building meaningful connections in the communities we work with.

At the heart of these four priorities stand being an Employer of Choice. Providing a mindful, respectful and ethical workplace for all employees and partners is inherent to our business and an aim to which we all contribute in our day-to-day practices.

Driving ChangeTM

Carbon-neutral shipping

Essential to us: carbon-neutral parcel shipping without additional costs to shippers and consignees. We closely monitor the greenhouse gases we generate, and work continuously on reducing our carbon footprint. Any unavoidable transport emissions are offset by investment in projects for renewable energies and clean energy generation.

Social responsibility

As a delivery company, we have many opportunities to generate contacts and build long lasting relationships. Our ambition is to make a positive contribution to the communities we’re the closest to. We have a wide range of topics and areas in which our employees are involved: solidarity transport, disadvantaged children and youth, the elderly, health, education, poverty, and environment. Each Business Unit has developed the most meaningful initiative, relevant to its own eco-system.

Intelligent city logistics

High levels of traffic density and pollution in inner cities require new solutions to parcel delivery operations. We are developing sustainable city logistics concepts in order to ensure deliveries to inner-city areas in future, too.

As a company we promote a start-up culture, in which staff have the opportunity to implement their own innovative ideas. This enables us to create new solutions for shippers and consignees on a regular basis, thus securing our position as the digital leaders within the parcels industry.

Carbon neutral and innovative

We conserve the environment and develop new solutions for parcel shipping. In addition, every year we offset more than 912,000 tonnes of CO2, thus ensuring carbon-neutral parcel shipping.

DPD SK is the first courier company in Slovakia to deploy electric vans especially made for the city delivery.

As the first courier company in Slovakia, DPD SK started to use electric vans Voltia eNV200 Maxi's with zero-emission of CO2, and thus became the first company in Slovakia to deploy vehicles especially made for urban delivery.

Voltia eNV200 Maxi is a fully electric vehicle built on the Nissan eNV200 platform. The storage space can accommodate 8m3 of cargo up to 600 kg. The reach of the vehicle is up to 140 km per one charge.

The first vans started to operate in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, in 2017, and today they are 9 of them there in Bratislava. We are particularly proud of the fact that DPD SK has begun cooperation that is gradually expanding within the CEE region and to the other DPDgroup countries. In the short term, 100 Voltia vans should operate in France.

DPD SK has been cooperating with Žilina University in Žilina a number of years; in this framework we engage in the educational process of the students at the Department of Communications, Faculty of Operation and Economics of Transport and Communications, either by means of selective lectures for students of this department, excursions for students in our premises or through professional cooperation on diploma theses and the creation and innovation of study plans. We think that bringing the academic community closer to practice in this area is very beneficial, therefore we decided to cooperate with the University of Žilina and thus to give the students – who can later become our staff – a possibility to gain practical knowledge and the ability to orientate themselves in the way of work of the international courier company.

DPD supported junior swimmers from the Slovak swimming association and young talented swimmers improve its possibilities to develop.

Training school for guide dogs

The DrivingChange project also includes the support for Training School for Guide Dogs in Bratislava. Within the framework of cooperation DPD has been supporting puppies from the breeding station of the training school since 2007.

Every year, DPD SK supports a dog who then wears a red-black logo of our company on its harness. We have been cooperating with the Dog Training School for a long time and also thanks to this support, the school is able to fund the breeding, education and training of guide dogs and help people with visual disabilities. Guide dog training is a costly and challenging process and the role of a guide dog is hardly replaceable in the life of a blind man. Even thanks to DPD SK, the daily life of people with visual impairment may be easier.
