A lot happens in 30 years. And that’s how it is at DPD, too. The most important thing is the people behind the scenes, the ones working hard every day to keep things moving. We decided to get to know some of these people a little better, and you can read about it here:
1. How long have you been working at DPD?
I’ve been working at DPD Switzerland since April 2005. And before that, I spent a year working at DPD Germany.
2. What have you learned most during your time at DPD?
It is actually difficult to answer because I have only ever worked at DPD. I practically grew up with DPD, so I cannot compare it to any other companies.
3. What does your work involve and what do you particularly like about it?
At DPD, I am part of the International Customer Solutions team and take care of customs clearance for import and export parcels, for example. I am in regular contact with colleagues in Sales and our customers. Together, we look at how customs clearance can be carried out successfully for a wide range of parcels. For example, what conditions must be met or what documents are required before a parcel can pass through customs.
What I like most about it is that I learn something new every week. No day is the same and it’s never boring. I get to know new people almost every day, which I find very exciting. There is always something new to do, so there’s not a boring routine.
4. How important is teamwork to you?
Teamwork is essential, because you can’t work any other way. It is a prerequisite to feel comfortable at work and a functional team with colleagues who also like to talk to each other is of enormous importance.
5. Describe DPD in three words.
Flexible, motivating and challenging.
6. How do you spend your time outside of work?
I have fun with my family and friends. When we have time, we go on excursions or trips together.
7. What’s been your farthest journey so far?
South Africa… for three weeks with my family. It was a combination of road trip and backpacking. I particularly enjoyed the wildlife and encountering all the different cultures on that trip.
8. What time of year is your favourite and why?
I like all the seasons, but the transition from summer to autumn is what I like best. Why? Because it’s beautiful even though it’s not so warm. Also, nature manifests itself in many different colours at this time, which I like very much.
9. What is your biggest dream?
A trip around the world would be a really big dream of mine.
10. What are you most proud of so far?
I am most proud of my whole life and my development.
11. Do you have a life motto and if so, what is it?
Carpe diem – Seize the day.
