An interview with our Florian

1. How long have you been working at DPD?

I have been officially part of the DPD family since 1 September 2015, but in reality, I practically grew up with it. My father has been working for DPD since 1997 and I was born in 1996, which means I was familiar with DPD before I could even walk. You could say that I am almost as old as my enthusiasm for parcels. In my world, everything has always revolved around deliveries and logistics. Maybe my love of parcels was born in the cradle, who knows!

2. What is your job at DPD and what do you particularly like about it?

As a bit of a jack of all trades at Pilatus Trans GmbH, a DPD partner company, I juggle parcels and paperwork every day. From parcel delivery, which takes me across the city, to the exciting world of personnel management, I do it all. My day-to-day life is so varied that boredom is a foreign concept for me.

3. What motivates you the most to come to work every day and how does it contribute to your job satisfaction at DPD?

I’m motivated to come to work every day, mainly because of the great contact I have with my colleagues and our customers. It’s almost like a daily party, except that we deliver parcels instead of confetti.

4. To what extent does the success of your tasks depend on collaboration with different departments or teams within DPD?

Collaboration with different departments at DPD is as important to the success of my work as finding the right address for a parcel. If all the teams did not work together perfectly, every day would be an unsolved puzzle.

5. Describe yourself with three characteristics.

I am friendly – helpful and always ready to greet people with a smile – always there to offer a helping hand or a parcel, and precise – so precise that I could sort parcels in my sleep.

6. How do you most enjoy spending your free time?

After a day in the world of parcels, I find my peace on the sofa with pizza and beer. When I’m not diving straight into Netflix, I’m climbing mountains – probably looking for lost parcels.

7. Do you have a professional and private goal that you absolutely still want to achieve?

Professionally and personally, my goal is the same: a few more zeros on my account wouldn’t be a bad thing, but at the end of the day, it’s about enjoying your work and doing your best.

8. Is there anything that is exceptionally important to you? And if so, what?

The most important thing for me is family. They are the hub to the parcel that is my life, always there to support me no matter how heavy or unwieldy the load is.
