Interview with Asli

The voice behind DPD: Our Asli

DPD: ‘How long have you been working at DPD?’
Asli: ‘I’ve been working at DPD for three and a half years now.’

DPD: ‘What are your duties at DPD and what do you particularly like about them?’
Asli: ‘I’m an HR payroll specialist. That means I take care of all activities related to the payroll. My areas of responsibility include, for example, payroll accounting, the time-recording system and getting in touch with government offices and other institutions. All in all, I am responsible for taking over all administrative HR tasks.
What I particularly like about it is the complexity. Handling the payroll involves many complex work steps that I find very exciting and enjoy. In other words, I like managing “the figures aspect” of HR.’

DPD: ‘Describe DPD in two sentences.’
Asli: ‘DPD has a very friendly, almost family-like, working atmosphere, which I personally find great. I really enjoy working here, because you also have a lot of freedom to make your own decisions and therefore feel you can make a difference.’

DPD: ‘What is your favourite hobby and what exactly do you like so much about it?’
Asli: ‘I have a French bulldog that I love spending time with. We often go for long walks because I also love being outdoors and can switch off really well there. In addition to that, I enjoy spending time with my two daughters, doing sports and, when I have time, reading a good book.’

DPD: ‘Would you say you’re a good listener and if so, why?’
Asli: ‘I think so, because when you work in HR, you have to be open and able to listen to people.’

DPD: ‘What does character mean to you?’
Asli: ‘For me, it’s a mixture of experience and personal talents. Above all, I think a person’s character develops as a result of their own experiences, but is also strongly influenced by their upbringing and parents.’

DPD: ‘Do you have a favourite book?’
Asli: ‘I do have a favourite book. It is written by the Turkish author Elif Safak and, in English, it is called 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World. I really like this writer’s books because, in my opinion, her way of thinking, how she describes the individual characters, is a very special one. She also has a really interesting narrative style in her stories. I highly recommend her books.’

DPD: ‘What is your biggest dream?’
Asli: ‘My biggest dream is to take a relaxing holiday for an extended period of time, without any obligations whatsoever. To simply let my mind drift away and only experience the moment. If you ask me where, Iceland would definitely be an option. Iceland fascinates me with its spectacular landscape and very exciting, overwhelming natural phenomena.’

DPD: ‘Is there any advice you would like to give your children?’
Asli: ‘Yes, always give 100% no matter what you do. So don’t do things by halves. Always set yourself realistic goals and pursue them with full commitment. If things don’t go the way you want them to, be patient and take things one step at a time. The more ambitious your goals, the greater your commitment and perseverance need to be.’
