As 2025 comes to a close, we certainly have plenty to celebrate at DPD. It’s been a year of growth, teamwork and forward motion, one that’s seen record-breaking performance and a renewed sense of purpose across the business. We caught up with CEO Andy van der Velde to reflect on the highlights of the year, the people behind our progress and what lies ahead in 2026.
Breaking Records and Smashing Targets
“2025 has been a breakthrough year for DPD South Africa,” says Andy. “If we look at October, our number of consignments were up 52% on October 2024. We’re now moving close to one and a half million shipments every month, and achieving 98.9% on-time delivery performance.” This level of service excellence now ranks DPD as the number one service provider in South Africa – a milestone that Andy credits to the company’s collective commitment. “We’re ready for a massive peak. We know how important this time of year is for our customers, and we’re here to make sure every parcel arrives when it should.”
Our People, the Backbone of Our Business
Amid the challenges and opportunities of a fast-moving industry, DPD’s strength has come from within. “Together, the team at DPD South Africa has remained disciplined and united,” Andy says. “One team with big goals – that’s what makes the difference.” He describes DPD’s culture as one that blends ambition with care. “DPD South Africa has an incredible culture. A culture of aiming high, expecting a lot, but also one of caring and nurturing. We want our staff to grow and do well.”
Looking Ahead with Ambition and Purpose
Looking ahead, technology remains central to DPD’s evolution. “In 2026, we aim to become a household name in South Africa,” Andy explains. “That will come through being the number one service provider in the country, and through our easy-to-use tech stack that makes shipping simple, transparent, and efficient.”
He adds that customer partnerships will continue to shape the company’s growth. “We’re creating specialised business units focusing on specific industry segments,” he says. “Print, Media and Promotions is a good example. This service has always been part of our offering, but we’ve now elevated it into its own dedicated division. Launching it as a standalone entity allows us to give our clients even more focus, value and specialised support. We use control towers to monitor large-scale projects and provide our Print customers with live dashboards, keeping them informed and on the front foot.”
Watch this space, our printing service is officially launching as its own specialised division called PMP soon, available to all our clients!
Here’s to Our Clients Who Keep Us Moving
From growth to innovation, teamwork to technology, 2025 has been a defining year for DPD South Africa – one built on the strength of its people and the trust of its customers. We are all collectively part of the most exciting and fast-growing courier brand in South Africa. Enjoy the festive season.”
