DPD took over the parcel division of Geis

In 2019, we reached an important milestone. From 14 January 2020, the Direct Parcel Distribution CZ took over the parcel division of the Geis Parcel company in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The companies agreed upon the acquisition at the beginning of November last year and the Geis Parcel company was taken over after approval of the transaction by antitrust authorities.

Thanks to this acquisition, DPD became No.1 on the private parcel services market.

January 2020 - notification of the purchase of Geis parcel division in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and renaming the Geis Parcel CZ to DPD CZ s.r.o.

February 2020 - beginning of a gradual conversion of marking into DPD colours

June 2020 - most DPD CZ employees are transferred into the Direct Parcel Distribution CZ s.r.o.

July 2020 - fusion of Sales Departments of both companies into one team

August 2020 - fusion of Customer Service departments, introduction of a unified complaint procedure and adjustment of General Terms and Conditions in order to comply with operational requirements after the merger of both of the companies

January 2021 - transition of DPD CZ customers to Direct Parcel Distribution s.r.o. applications and systems

February 2021 - final connection of pickup points (Geis Point) network into one common DPD Pickup network

  • How long will the fusion of both of the companies take?

We expect it to take place in 2020 and 2021 by gradual steps. Our aim is to maintain the high quality of services provided to customers of both companies.

  • How will the company work after the merger?

The company will continue to provide its services without difference to all its customers. We would like to become the most admired carrier on the Czech parcel market, to provide the best services to our customers and the best working conditions to our employees.

  • Will the Geis Parcel CZ brand be maintained?

When the purchase of Geis Parcel entered into force, it was renamed to DPD CZ.  In compliance with our integration plan, a final fusion with the Direct Parcel Distribution will take place on 31 December 2020.  

  • How many employees will DPD have after the merger of both companies?

After the merger, about 650 permanent employees and 1 400 couriers will work for DPD. By acquiring Geis Parcel, DPD has become the biggest private parcel carrier on the market.

  • Why is Geis selling its own parcel companies?

Costs per parcel and costs related to the inevitable related innovations, e.g. in the field of B2C, will be increasing in the future. For a company that is a specialist in parcel transport, it is much easier to provide its customers with up-to-date courier services. Parcel services of Geis Parcel CZ and SK company were only a local activity and Geis Group wants to focus on its traditional scope of business in the future.

  • What has DPD bought from Geis?

DPD has bought the Geis Parcel division (parcel shipping) in the Czech republic and Slovakia.

The customer service, as one of the parts of the companies, has been integrated already since 1 August 2020.   • What do the customers get from the DPD and Geis merge?  

Customers of both of the companies will enjoy a broad network of depots and pickup points (1 350). Thanks to the DPDgroup, Geis Parcel CZ customers will get a connection to the biggest courier network in Europe with more than 42 000 pickup points and delivering to 230 countries all over the world.

  • Will you be introducing new services?

DPD is a traditional leader in the field of innovations (e.g. parcel delivery in a one-hour time window) and strives for the highest possible standard of provided services. We are constantly adapting our offer of services in order to meet our customers needs.

  • Why and when did the name of Geis Parcel CZ change to DPD CZ s.r.o.?

DPD became the owner of Geis Parcel CZ, renaming was one of the conditions of the acquisition. The name of the company changed after its entry in the Commercial Register on 7 February 2020.

  • When will the DPD CZ s.r.o. and Direct Parcel Distribution s.r.o. companies be merged?

The merge of the companies is planned on 31 December 2020. Direct Parcel Distribution CZ s.r.o. will be the successor company taking over all rights and obligations of DPD CZ.

  • What about the DPD CZ employees? I would like to work for the DPD company, who can I contact?
