Delivery of items to closed recipients

Please be advised that all shipments in Latvia and Europe that DPD will not be able to deliver because the recipient is closed for an indefinite or indefinite period will be returned to the shipper.

DPD Parcel Lockers

We continue to provide courier services as usual, but for security reasons, we encourage all of our customers to use DPD Pickup Parcel Lockers, both on delivery and on receiving. You can find the closest DPD Parcel Locker in Latvia here. As a reminder, DPD Parcel Locker can store parcels up to 20 kg in weight and you can conveniently send your shipment on our digital platform eserviss.dpd.lv. Transferring shipments to your nearest DPD Parcel Locker is free of charge. To protect yourself from exposure to the virus, we recommend that you disinfect your hands before and after working on the Parcel Locker.

Giving shipments to courier

If you are unable to deliver your shipment to DPD Parcel Locker, we encourage you to place any shipment you wish to deliver to the courier as close as possible to the front door of the pickup address.

DPD Pickup Points store items for up to 5 days. If the item is not received within 5 days, it will be returned to the sender. Customers with COVID-19 specific symptoms are strongly advised not to go to Pickup points to receive shipments.

Delivery of shipments to other European countries declared to be in an emergency situation

Schools, colleges, kindergartens, and other public places are currently closed in several European countries. As well as several companies have closed their offices during the pandemic period. We ask all our customers to make sure that the consignee has not suspended their operations for a while. Any shipments that cannot be delivered will be returned to the shipper immediately.

Security measures at DPD Latvia

Security measures at DPD Latvia

During each pandemic period, the health status of all employees at DPD will be monitored daily:

  • All our employees are discouraged to travel outside Latvia. If an employee has been in a state of emergency in the last 14 days, they are invited to work from home for the next 14 days;

  • We have canceled all missions, training and face-to-face meetings;

  • All our couriers are provided with disinfectants for the regular disinfection of hands and work equipment.

Changes to COD (Cash on Delivery)

Continuing to actively follow the spread of COVID-19 across Europe and following the recommendations of the Latvian authorities, from 19.03. cash transactions are terminated indefinitely, providing COD (Cash on Delivery) service. From now on, beneficiaries will only be able to pay by bank card.

If at the time of delivery, the customer will not be able to pay for the item by bank credit card, the item will be returned to the sender.

Changes in "Bulky cargo unloading" service

From 18.03. changes in the provision of the "Bulky cargo unloading service" take effect. For safety measures, the DPD courier will deliver the shipment to the recipient's front door of the property (apartment/house). The shipment will not be taken into the property of the recipient by the DPD courier.

If the recipient refuses to accept the shipment, we will return it to the sender.

From 18.03. changes in the provision of the "Bulky cargo unloading service" take effect. For safety measures, the DPD courier will deliver the shipment to the recipient's front door of the property (apartment/house). The shipment will not be taken into the property of the recipient by the DPD courier.

If the recipient refuses to accept the shipment, we will return it to the sender.

Changes to ROD service

DPD continues to provide ROD with the following security precautions:

  1. Users of the ROD service will be invited to sign up using their own pen. This reduces the amount of physical contact.

  2. In order to verify the identity of the recipient, the courier will ask you to place the ID card or Passport at a safe distance and will ask you to depart from the document so that the data in the document can be compared with the contract data.

  3. Once the recipient's identity has been confirmed, the courier will prepare the documents for signature and invite the recipient to sign them.

  4. Recipients will be encouraged to maintain a minimum distance of 2 meters from the courier to minimize the potential risks of physical contact.

  5. If the recipient refuses to present his identity documents or refuses to sign, the consignment will be returned to the sender.

Explanation of the term "quarantine"

DPD Latvia means "customer in Quarantine" who have returned to Latvia within the last 14 days and are legally required to avoid any contact with other persons within 14 days. As well as persons who have been confirmed or contacted by COVID-19 patients. All quarantined clients are encouraged to use Contactless Delivery, specifying at the recipient's address the secure location where the DPD courier may leave the shipment.   • 520.- EUR per item, which has its own DPD parcel number and up to 13,000.- EUR per consignment consisting of several items;

  • 265.- EUR per item, which has its own DPD parcel number and is delivered through a contactless delivery solution.

  • No refund applies in the case of the “Safe to Delivery” service.
