DPD will start delivery of fresh produce

An entirely new unit

DPD fresh will become an entirely new unit within DPD, for which we can rely on the expertise of the Chronofresh service of our French colleagues of Chronopost. In France, Chronopost has been delivering fresh produce to business and private customers for some time already.

In Belgium we will start this service as from September. Food manufacturers, industrial food distributors and web shops can call upon DPD fresh to ship grocery (nuts, chocolate…) as well as fresh and frozen products to restaurants, grocery stores, retailers, catering companies and consumers, with next day delivery within Belgium. Similar to our ‘normal’ parcel deliveries, Predict notification is included in DPD fresh, which means consignees will receive in advance a 1-hour delivery time slot, as well as being offered the option to reschedule the delivery or to redirect the parcel to another location. 

The best freshness possible!

We know that food products are fragile and sensitive and that they require special care. In order to reassure you that we transport your products in the best possible food safety, conditions, we have developed a process specifically for the food market. This way, we guarantee delivery in optimal condition and the correct temperature conditions, from receipt to delivery. We can check the latter aspect by continuously monitoring the transport temperature.

A new location in Asse-Zellik

The start of this new service comes with the opening of a new location in Asse-Zellik. This new depot will serve as a hub for the DPD fresh parcels as well as CLASSIC parcels and will therefore be equipped with dedicated cold and freezer rooms for food and a ‘regular’ sorting line for the other parcels. Because of the central location, food produce will be delivered to the end customer fast and at the right temperature. Moreover, the 16,400 m² of space offers plenty of opportunity for further growth.
