Become the reference in sustainable delivery

Jean-Claude-Sonet

Sustainability is the biggest challenge of our times. At DPDgroup, we are pioneering a truly sustainable business. It’s what drives us every dayWe aim to be a force for good in the world, joining forces with customers, consumers, suppliers and other stakeholders to make a positive difference to people, to our planet and to the communities we operate with.

DPDgroup is also at the forefront of the e-commerce revolution, touching the lives of millions of people every day – that’s another reason why we’re striving to be the most sustainable delivery company. Because wherever we live on Earth, we all share the same address.”

Jean-Claude Sonet, Executive Vice President, Marketing, Communications and Sustainability GeoPost/DPDgroup

We all share the #SameAddress

In 2020, we delivered 1.9bn parcels worldwide. But when it comes to protecting future generations and our cherished planet, we all share the same address. That’s why we’ve reduced our CO2 emissions per parcel by 18.8% since 2013 and we’ll reach 30% by 2025, when our delivery vehicles in Europe’s 225 largest cities will be 100% low- emission.

Inspired and guided by the three pillars of our Sustainability approach – PeoplePlanet and Communities – DPDgroup is working harder than ever to create a social and environmental legacy that our children can be proud of.

Carbon neutral delivery, at no extra cost

Carbon neutral delivery, at no extra cost

At DPD, we deliver all parcels CO2 neutral by default. How do we do this? By offsetting emissions of our vehicles and buildings into green projects; without having to pay extra, neither as a sender or consignee. That is our answer to corporate responsibility.

Predict

Thanks to Predict we can provide our consignees with an estimated 1-hour time slot for the delivery. Not only does this result in fewer returns, but this measure also decreases harmful emissions by 6% compared to conventional home delivery without Predict.

Delivery with green vehicles

Delivery with green vehicles

By 2025, we will  deliver 6 cities in Belgium and Luxembourg with zero emission vehicles only. In Mechelen for instance, we already have an electric van in use, in Sint-Niklaas you might have spotted our electric cargo bike.

A dense network of Pickup points

Our Pickup network comprises over 1,000 Pickup points in Belgium and Luxembourg. We can deliver several parcels at the same time at these parcel shops, which significantly decreases the number of kilometres on the road, hence our CO2 emissions (up to 21% lower than with home delivery). Moreover, you can find a Pickup point at just a 5 to 10 min walk away. That level of proximity helps us to reduce our ecological footprint and to become a more sustainable courier service.

State-of-the-art and sustainable hub

State-of-the-art and sustainable hub

In 2022, we will open our new hub/depot in Vilvoorde; a building in which sustainability has been a main focus. It includes electric charging infrastructure, the rainwater will be collected, 734 solar panels have been installed on the roof and warm water is recuperated for the heating system. A fabulous example of sustainable technology, as you can expect from a sustainable courier service.

Have your parcels delivered at a Pickup point

Have your parcels delivered at a Pickup point

By default, having your parcels delivered at a Pickup point is a greener solution, since we drop off more than just one parcel at the same time. This way, our vehicles cover fewer kilometres. Your nearest Pickup point is just a 5 to 10 min walk away. Win-win for the environment and your health!

Give deposit permission

You won't be there at the time of delivery? Using the myDPD app, you can change the delivery address or moment up to 30 min before our driver is scheduled to arrive. You can also opt to have your parcel delivered at a Pickup point. Or you can give permission to have your parcel deposited at a safe place by our driver.

Avoid returns

Do you shop online? check reviews or size tables. That way, you avoid that your order does not live up to your expectations, so you have to return fewer goods.
