Glassware, fragile items (glass, porcelain, ceramics, stoneware, etc.)

Shipments containing fragile or breakable items are not subject to special sorting or handling. Such shipments are processed and delivered like standard parcels. Therefore, it is recommended to protect them with proper internal and external packaging to minimize the risk of damage.

External packaging

  • Choose a suitably sized parcel.

  • Use only a sturdy corrugated cardboard box.

  • The box must maintain its shape.

  • Windows, glass units, mirrors, and ceramic or stoneware items (toilets, sinks) must be secured on a pallet. The pallet type should be selected based on the product size (half-pallet, quarter-pallet, etc.).

Internal packaging

  • Pack each item individually—wrap in bubble wrap or other cushioning material so items do not touch each other or any side of the parcel.

  • Fill voids using:

    • cardboard dividers,

    • bubble wrap,

    • foam,

    • paper shreds or foam pellets.

  • Protect protruding parts separately (e.g., cup handles, vase rims, candlestick components).

  • Ensure at least a 5 cm protective layer around each item on all sides.

  • Once packed, when the box is turned upside down, the contents should remain stable and not shift. Boxes may be turned during transport and sorting.

Important

  • If you feel movement when shaking the box, the protection is insufficient.

  • Fill any empty spaces, as voids increase the risk of damage during transportation.

  • A “Fragile” label or sticker is not mandatory. It is informational only and does not affect the sorting or transportation process.

  • All fragile items must be packed according to these guidelines to ensure protection during shipment.
