Proper packaging is one of the most critical conditions for ensuring the safe transportation of a shipment. Shipments pass through automated sorting lines, are stacked on top of one another, and are handled multiple times during transit. Therefore, the parcel must be durable, provide stable protection for its contents, and withstand the stresses encountered throughout the transportation process.
A properly prepared shipment is one where the contents cannot be accessed or damaged without visibly compromising the parcel. The packaging must effectively protect the contents from potential damage during transportation and sorting. In addition, the parcel must be safe, meaning it must not be any risk to the environment, including people, other shipments, equipment, and similar factors. Proper packaging ensures that your items reach the recipient securely.
A shipment must be packed using both internal protection and a strong external parcel. Internal cushioning protects the item from shocks and movement within the parcel, while the durable external parcel safeguards the shipment against pressure and the impact of other shipments during transportation.
Fragile or breakable items must be packed individually so that they do not touch each other or come into contact with any side of the parcel.
When shipping liquids in bottles or other specialized containers, it is mandatory to ensure that the containers are completely sealed to prevent leakage during handling and transit.
Container caps must be equipped with protective mechanisms to prevent them from opening unintentionally.
Large items must be packed in transport-ready parcels that effectively protect the goods from damage during loading, sorting, and transportation.
A shipment must be placed on a pallet if:
The parcel weighs more than 25 kg.
The parcel exceeds the maximum dimensions allowed for a standard shipment.
In such cases, the shipment must be securely fastened to the pallet using packing straps, belts, screws, or specialized wrapping to prevent movement and ensure stability throughout transit.
A pallet is not required if the parcel weighs between 25-100 kg or has a volume exceeding 3 m, provided it is packed in the original manufacturer’s transport packaging designed for safe handling.
If an item must be transported exclusively in a horizontal or vertical position, the shipment must be placed on a pallet and properly secured to maintain the required orientation.
