Current information and actions by DPD Switzerland regarding Coronavirus

General information on the current situation

With Covid-19’s reach and development now worldwide, DPDgroup has a role to play, as strong players in the parcel delivery industry, in slowing down the progress of the novel Coronavirus. At DPDgroup, we have been monitoring the Coronavirus (Covid-19) situation closely and following the advice issued by World Health Organisation and national authorities.

The delivery of the parcels still takes place without restrictions on the side of DPD. The health of our employees, transport companies and their staff, as well as that of our customers, has the highest priority. Despite loosening from 11 May in Switzerland, the measures at DPD will remain in place until further notice.

Measures of DPD Switzerland

In implementing this policy we comply with the recommendations of the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health and the instructions from DPDgroup headquarters. We have introduced various measures such as home office, staggered breaks, separation of teams or cancellation of trips and meetings. In addition, we have set up a task force which is constantly monitoring the situation and drawing up various scenarios and measures. The aim is to safeguard the business and protect the health of our employees and customers.

The primary need of our recipients is to have the parcel delivered directly to their home the following day. Especially in the current situation it is very important to us to meet this requirement whenever possible. Due to the current situation, recipients no longer have to sign for parcel delivery until further notice. For parcel deliveries, where a signature is normally required, we hand the parcel to the recipient and record the name: This to ensure that the recipient receives the parcel. The recipient takes the responsibility. The recipient still has the option of giving us a authorisation for delivery to a safe place so that we can deposit the parcel.

Since it is not possible to avoid personal contact during the cash-on-delivery process, DPD Switzerland is completely stopping its COD service from 1 May 2020. This will continue to apply after the Coronavirus pandemic is over.

Parcel shipping within Switzerland

We kindly ask all shippers to check before shipping if delivery to the delivery address is still possible. Parcels sent to shops that have closed due to current federal regulations will be returned to the shipper with costs after the first delivery attempt. The collections will take place as planned. If a collection is not possible, please let us know.

To stores that are closed and still receive packages: Please write on the front door where the parcels can be accepted.

Parcel shipping to other countries

To all shippers who wish to send parcels to other countries: Please check if the recipient has opened. If the recipient is open, all parcels will be delivered. If your recipient is not open and therefore cannot accept your parcel, we ask you to refrain from sending the parcel. At the current time we cannot offer the service DPD EXPRESS INTERNATIONAL or any international services by an airplane. There could be delays in European road transport.

To stores that are closed and still receive packages: Please write on the front door where the parcels can be accepted.
