With Covid-19’s reach and development now worldwide, DPDgroup has a role to play, as strong players in the parcel delivery industry, in slowing down the progress of the novel Coronavirus. At DPDgroup, we have been monitoring the Coronavirus (Covid-19) situation closely and following the advice issued by World Health Organisation and national authorities.
In terms of implementation, we are adhering to the recommendations of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) and the instructions issued by the DPDgroup head office. Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, we have introduced a number of measures such as working from home, staggered breaks, team separation, and travel and meeting cancellations. We have also created a task force which continuously monitors the situation and develops various scenarios and measures based on this. The aim is to maintain business and to protect the health of our employees and customers.
We are now introducing contactless delivery in order to safeguard the health of our parcel recipients. In the case of our services requiring a signature, you have the option as a recipient of adding your signature directly to the parcel label. This means we can make the delivery contactless and there is no need for you to provide your signature on the scanner. Our driver then takes a photo of the label with the signature clearly visible – in this way, we can continue to guarantee proof of delivery.
Parcels to shops can now only be delivered to a limited extent. From 18 January 2021, all shops selling non-daily consumer goods will be closed.
Kiosks, bakeries, petrol station shops, pharmacies, drugstores, opticians, hearing aid shops, telecoms, repair and maintenance shops, laundries, hairdressing salons, DIY and garden shops and flower shops may remain open.
We ask all senders to check whether delivery can still be made to the delivery address before sending parcels. Parcels to shops that are closed due to current federal requirements will be returned to the sender for a fee after the first delivery attempt. Collections will take place as scheduled. If a collection is not possible, please let us know.
Please note that some of our DPD Pickup parcelshops are closed.
To shops that are closed but still accept parcels: Please label on the entrance door where goods can be accepted.
As some countries are again in lockdown, many shipments cannot be delivered. We ask all senders to check before sending, whether to the delivery address can still be delivered. Provided the recipient has opened, all parcels will be delivered. If your recipient has not opened and therefore cannot accept their parcel, please do not send the parcel.
Service from the UK to Europe and the Republic of Ireland are paused due to Brexit adjustments. Imports to the UK will resume. All details must be Brexit compliant. Customs formalities for trade in goods and services are mandatory. Delays may occur due to the new Brexit rules.
At this stage, we do not know how long these services will be unavailable for, but we will provide regular updates as the situation changes.
