At the Baltic Sustainability Awards 2024 held in Riga, DPD Baltics was named the winner in the Transport and Mobility category. The company received the award in recognition of its achievements in reducing CO2 emissions, improving operational efficiency, and promoting sustainable, eco-friendly mobility solutions.
The Baltic Sustainability Awards celebrate organizations from across the Baltic region that are driving meaningful change in the field of sustainability. The awards honor exceptional initiatives that help address environmental, social, and economic challenges.
This year marked the first time the Transport and Mobility category was included in the awards. DPD Lietuva, together with DPD Latvia and DPD Estonia, submitted a joint entry that showcased the group’s region-wide sustainability efforts.
DPD Baltics was recognized for its significant progress in transforming its transport operations to reduce emissions, boost efficiency, and encourage greener mobility solutions for all. According to Markas Ąžuolas, Head of Sustainability at DPD Lietuva, the award is a testament to the company’s dedication to ensuring parcels are delivered not only quickly and reliably, but also as sustainably as possible.
Ąžuolas highlighted that DPD Baltics was the first parcel delivery company in the region to launch large-scale fleet electrification back in 2021. Today, across all three Baltic countries, parcels are delivered by 157 electric vehicles operating in 16 cities.
"In 2023 alone, we delivered over 4.6 million parcels using electric vehicles, cutting CO2 emissions by 708 tonnes. Since 2020, we’ve reduced emissions per parcel by more than 20% across the Baltics. We’re also continuing to expand our parcel locker network, which now includes over 1,000 locations—helping to further optimize our delivery process," said Ąžuolas.

He also noted that the transport sector remains one of the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions in the Baltic region.
"Our goal is not only to reduce our own environmental impact, but also to set an example for how the transport industry can move toward greater sustainability. That’s why, together with our colleagues in Latvia and Estonia, we’ve taken active steps to accelerate the transition to low-emission parcel delivery," he added.
The initiatives recognized at the Baltic Sustainability Awards 2024 reflect not only innovative approaches to sustainability, but also aim to inspire other companies to adopt greener practices and change their behavior for the better.
The winners of the Baltic Sustainability Awards 2024 were announced on November 26 during an official ceremony in Riga.
