In the Netherlands, alcohol laws require that an age check be performed upon delivery of alcohol. This ensures that we can be certain that the recipient is 18 years of age or older. Because DPD delivers the package to you, we offer this service.
Are you ordering alcohol online? Then we ask you to show valid ID upon delivery. The driver will enter your date of birth and the last 5 digits of your document number, along with the type of document (passport, ID card or driving licence).
Of course, we want to make sure that everything is done according to the rules, but we like to do it in a way that is as smooth as possible for you!
If you are expecting a foreign parcel that has to pass through customs, you may have to pay VAT, import duties and administration costs. Fortunately, most parcels are exempt from import duties.
Payment request from DPD
If you have agreed with the webshop that you will pay the import costs yourself, you will receive a payment request from DPD. It is important to know that this request contains a 14-digit parcel number. You can enter this number together with the recipient's postcode in our Track & Trace to check whether the request really comes from DPD NL. This way, you can be absolutely sure that it is correct!
Lodging an objection
Do you disagree with the VAT or import duties? No problem! You have the option of lodging an objection with the Tax and Customs Administration. You can find out exactly how this works in the Frequently Asked Questions. We are of course happy to help you if you have any questions.
