The Alcohol Act states that when delivering alcohol in the Netherlands, the Dutch seller must carry out an age check to make sure that the person accepting the package is 18 years or older. Since DPD transports the package, we offer this service.
So, if you order alcohol online, you will need to show a valid ID when the package is delivered. The driver will enter your date of birth, the last 5 digits of the document number and the document type (passport, ID card or driving license) will be registered.
Sometimes something you buy doesn’t live up to expectations. If you want to return your parcels DPD offers various options to do so:
You receive a DPD label with your order (stick the label to the parcel and bring it to a Pickup parcelshop)
You can request a DPD-label from the webshop (stick the label to the parcel and bring it to a Pickup parcelshop)
You have to arrange the return yourself (you can use the Online Shipping service to buy a label directly from DPD.)
The webshop will have the parcel collected from your home
With this option the webshop will instruct DPD to collect the parcel from your home. Then all you have to do is wait for DPD to let you know when we will pick it up. Please note: Not every webshop uses this service.

Now that the United Kingdom has left the EU, different trading agreements apply. That means that parcels arriving from the United Kingdom may be subject to VAT, import duty and administration charges. Most parcels are free of import duties.
Payment request from DPD
If you have agreed with the sender that you will pay the import costs yourself, you will receive a payment request from DPD. Please note: DPD communicates a 14-digit parcel number in this payment request. Enter this number and the recipient's zip code in our Track & Trace for verification. This way you can be sure that the payment request comes from DPD NL.
Objection calculated VAT
If you do not agree with the calculated VAT and/or import duties, you can lodge an objection with the tax authorities. At Frequently Asked Questions (Brexit - Recipients) you will find the description how to do that
