DPD supports its linehaul drivers with meal packages

DPD is supporting its drivers in these dramatic times by offering meal packages en route. The measures different governments have taken in the battle against the coronavirus, such as closing restaurants and cafés, are making things especially difficult for national and international linehaul drivers. DPD parcel delivery service sees it as its duty to help these drivers and, among other things, is therefore providing meals to its lorry drivers.

Before the corona crisis, lorry drivers could stop at, for example, motorway services to have a hearty meal on a long journey. This is no longer possible as restaurants have been closed. In order to ensure that drivers can still enjoy a good, nutritious meal en route between one of the many DPD depots and hubs in Europe, DPD is offering them meal packages. These contain everything they need for a healthy and tasty meal, plus a few extra snacks. Using #DPDankjewel #maaltijdpakketten, DPD wants to show its appreciation for the drivers on social media, as well.

DPD has also been showing its appreciation for its sorting staff, delivery drivers and office employees. For the sorting staff, “The pizza day” has been created. The delivery drivers have received a bunch of tulips and the office employees have received an Easter treat.

Eric Dietz, CEO of DPD Netherlands: “The coronavirus has put both national and international lorry drivers in a difficult position as regards places to eat. All motorway service restaurants are closed, but supermarkets are often also shut by the time they stop at them. We see it as our duty to help and show our appreciation for these and all the other hardworking men and women – including sorting staff, delivery drivers and office employees. So I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone for their fantastic efforts during this difficult period. They are ensuring that the freight services in Europe can continue to run as smoothly as possible.”
