As of 1 July, the new Alcohol Act will be in force in the Netherlands. Companies in the Netherlands that sell alcohol over the Internet are obliged to make sure that the age limit of 18 years is respected during the whole process. To support you with this, DPD has introduced the new option Age check. This option will be available from 1 July for parcels sent with DPD Home or DPD Classic. According to the Alcohol Act, parcels with alcohol to foreign countries do not need to be checked for age.
Do you choose this option? Then the driver checks the age of the recipient by asking for a valid ID. He also records the document type and the last five digits of the document number. So you know for sure that the recipient of your package is 18 years or older. Unfortunately, the Age check option cannot be combined with permission to deliver at an alternative location. Also, parcels with Age check cannot be delivered to another address. This is not permitted by law.
