At DPD we take responsibility, not only towards our customers and our employees but also towards the society in which we live. That’s why the whole organisation operates in accordance with the DrivingChangeTM sustainability strategy. We like to be challenged by this strategy to support initiatives that lie close to our core business and that are related to sustainability.

Driving ChangeTM

Climate-neutral shipping

Climate-neutral parcel delivery at no extra cost to senders and recipients. This is an important point of principle for us at DPD. We closely monitor the greenhouse gases we emit and continuously take action to reduce our carbon footprint. That’s why we compensate for the unavoidable emissions by investing in renewable energy and clean energy generation projects.

Social responsibility

As a parcel service provider, we are at the core of society every day. We believe it’s important to give something back to society and to make a positive contribution.
That’s why DPD has been the main sponsor of Stichting Hulphond Nederland (Assistance Dogs Netherlands Foundation) since 2018, and a donor of Stichting Rhotia Valley (Rhotia Valley Foundation) since 2017.

Smart urban logistics

The high volume of traffic and pollution in city centres demands new initiatives to deliver parcels sustainably. We are working on logistics concepts to ensure that parcels can continue to be delivered to the city centres in the future.

Climate-neutral and en innovative

We are safeguarding the environment and working on new environmentally-friendly ways to ship parcels. We also measure carbon emissions and reduce them in line with our environmental objectives. And whatever we cannot reduce, we compensate (offset) fully to ensure climate-neutral parcel delivery.

Smart solutions for the city centre

Smart solutions for the city centre

Transport bicycles
In a number of European cities it’s now a familiar sight: our transport bikes, letting us provide emission-free local delivery. In the Netherlands we regularly use couriers from cycle-based operator fietskoeriers.nl.

TRIPL
In several countries within the DPDgroup, deliverers drive an e-scooter, the so-called TRIPL. Since the opening of the DPD City Hub in Rotterdam in October DPD’s couriers will deliver parcels in Rotterdam from this new location using electric TRIPLs.

VW e-Crafter
We are testing the possibilities of driving with electric vans in a number of cities in Germany. Hopefully we will soon see the first VW e-Crafter bearing the DPD logo!

Digital services
Thanks to digital innovations such as Predict, we can deliver more parcels at the first attempt. That means less mileage and fewer harmful emissions.

Rhotia Valley

“Rhotia Valley lies on top of a hill in Tanzania’s northern Safari Circuit. It was founded in 2005 by Joris and Marise, a couple who had a GP practice in the Netherlands. What started small has grown to become a home for orphans. Rhotia Valley offers them a safe place to live, with clean drinking water, good food and especially education. At Rhotia Valley the children are given a good preparation for the future, and their own entrepreneurship is encouraged. Part of the orphanage is financed by renting out lodges to tourists. DPD has a special relationship with Rhotia Valley and would like to strengthen it. That’s why we have donated laptops, mobile phones and clothing. “

Hulphond Nederland

DPD Nederland and the assistance dog organisation Hulphond Nederland have joined forces. In signing a three-year cooperation agreement, DPD Nederland has become the new main sponsor of Hulphond Nederland. The parcel deliverer thus supports the training and deployment of assistance dogs for people with a care need. DPD will also organise a number of public campaigns to draw attention to the foundation’s work and to raise funding. With this cooperation we are joining forces and can share our knowledge so that more people become self-reliant. This lets us further improve the quality of service for people with disabilities.
