DPD opened new City depot in Zagreb

DPD opened new City depot in Zagreb

Zagreb | October 2023. | DPD Croatia, an innovator in green delivery, opened its second City depot in Zagreb, at Svetice 8. Our new urban depot aligns with sustainable city delivery goals – bringing us closer to consignees and shippers to reduce CO2 emissions.

While urban logistics ensure the smooth operation of cities, aiding in store supply, consumer supply, and waste removal, they also present modern challenges like air congestion, noise, pollution, harmful emissions, and safety. At DPD, as well as in the entire Geopost group, we continuously reevaluate urban logistics to prepare for better tomorrow. We know there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, so we act across the entire logistics chain to increase efficiency and reduce the environmental impact.

The key to achieving sustainable urban mobility is the complete removal of vehicles with harmful emissions, the introduction of bicycles, and the opening of urban depots, bringing services closer to end-users in urban centres. That’s why DPD decided to open the new urban depot in the broader city centre, at a high-traffic location, just a five-minute walk from Zagreb’s largest park, Maksimir.

Private and business recipients in Zagreb, along with the already operational City depot in Gundulićeva, which has been successful for three years, now have another City depot where they can redirect the parcels using the myDPD app. Additionally, it is possible to send parcels throughout Croatia, Europe and the world from City depot Svetice.

We are the first global parcel delivery company with CO2 reduction targets approved by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi). Our short-term goal is to reduce CO2 emissions by 43% by 2030, with a long-term target of a 90% reduction by 2040.

“Our actions cover operations in key impact areas, including delivery vehicles and depots. That’s why we are extremely pleased that by opening our second City depot in Zagreb, we are one step closer to reducing CO2 emissions,” said Igor Jakovljević, General Manager of DPD Croatia.

DPD City depot Svetice operates from Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and aligns with sustainable urban delivery goals – getting as close as possible to all consignees and shippers while reducing CO2 emissions.

In this way, DPD effectively addresses the challenge of modern times, the phenomenon of e-commerce, which has led to a significant increase in parcels in urban centres and, in turn, more stringent traffic regulations in cities.
