DPD records a record year for the 2nd year in a row

DPDgroup today announces record annual results, with a 14.8% increase in revenue, more than 2 billion parcels delivered worldwide and an operating profit above 1 billion euros for the first time in its history. Due to the corona pandemic, more orders were placed online and DPD was able to process more parcels than ever before.


In 2021, DPD delivered 2.1 billion parcels worldwide, 8.4 million parcels per day. On Cyber ​​Monday in November 2021, DPD broke its daily volume record with the handling of 12.2 million parcels in Europe, which is 2% more compared to the year 2020.

Covid-19
2021 was once again shaped by Covid-19, as a result of which people were forced to make their purchases online due to the corona measures. This resulted in strong growth in online shopping in the first quarter, with the number of parcels handled by DPD increasing by 34%. From Q2 to Q4, when lockdowns ended in most countries, sales growth returned to pre-covid levels, and full-year volumes grew by 14% compared to the previous year. year 2020.

DPDgroup has invested €562 million in expanding the company's delivery capacity, including the construction of new hubs in the Benelux and France and depots in Germany, UK and France, in order to be able to respond to customer demands, to respond to customer demands and to handle peak volumes quickly.


Sustainable delivery service  
A true pioneer in this field, DPDgroup, announced in 2020 its commitment to cover 225 of European cities (more than 50,000 people) with low-emission delivery solutions by 2025. Given the faster than expected deployment of these solutions, DPDgroup announced in 2022 that it would raise its ambition and increase the number of European cities covered to 350 by 2025. By then, the company will have deployed more than 15,000 alternative vehicles, 6,700 charging points, and 250 urban depots.
