Ljubljana, July 2023 | DPD Slovenia, which operates under the auspices of the global Geopost group, started the construction of the largest distribution center in this area in April this year. It is called the Adriatic HUB and will simultaneously process parcels for Slovenia and Croatia.
The construction of the Adriatic Hub is the largest investment in the improvement of infrastructure since the establishment of DPD Slovenia, the total value of the investment is estimated at 23 million euros, and the value of the technological investment is 10 million euros. The location where the construction of the new complex has already begun - Bistra Business Zone near the Slovenian-Croatian border - is located in a strategically important place for the development and improvement of the parcel delivery process in Slovenia and Croatia.
The opening of the Adriatic Hub is scheduled for the second half of 2024 and will be the largest sorting and logistics center to date, as it will cover as much as 37,500 m2. The new complex will thus be the first sorting center that will simultaneously process parcels for Slovenia and Croatia. The center is being built according to the latest standards of the Geopost group, which means using the currently best available sorting technology, which will enable the processing of up to 12,000 parcels per hour. The aforementioned qualitative shift will be felt by all domestic and foreign 2B and 2C subscribers in Slovenia, as well as in Croatia.
"Investment in strengthening logistics capacities and improving all operational processes should further strengthen the connection between Slovenia and Croatia and thus increase the quality of services to the satisfaction of senders and final recipients in both countries," said Igor Jakovljević, chief director of DPD for Slovenia and Croatia.
DPD Slovenia currently has 9 warehouses strategically located throughout Slovenia. They say that by investing in the expansion of their infrastructure and in projects such as the Adriatic Hub, they contribute primarily to improving the quality of services, as well as to the standards that are increasing day by day in the parcel distribution segment.
With the construction of a new modern sorting and logistics center, they expect to raise the quality of their services to the highest possible level. They will achieve this mainly by fast and easy delivery of parcels and by meeting the needs of all their users. Undoubtedly, with these ongoing investments, DPD will improve the overall delivery experience and meet market demand.
