In the challenging year 2023, Geopost and DPD maintain stable results

 

The year 2023 has once again brought many challenges and disruptions related to complex geopolitical events around the world. The year was marked by numerous international conflicts, which continued to affect the economy. The delivery service business also faced ever-increasing pressure on costs.

The prices of energy products and the inflation rate increased, while the economy stagnated or even decreased in some places. Most of the economy felt the pressure to reduce costs, and it was no different in delivery services, where the pressure was felt in both the B2B and B2C segments.

Despite the challenges of the full year 2023, Geopost and DPD managed to maintain stable results and generate €15.69 billion, which is 0.7% more revenue than in 2022. This shows a high degree of adaptability to all conditions and a lot of knowledge in this area.

In 2023, we delivered around 8 million parcels daily, which is 2.1 billion parcels in the whole year and worldwide.

Strengthening strategic delivery segments such as Out-of-Home delivery

Out-of-home delivery has been one of the fastest-growing segments in recent years, as evidenced by E-shopper barometer for 2023. In the fast-growing market, Geopost has greatly strengthened its presence over the past few years. The Out-of-Home network counted 20,000 points in Europe in 2015, 50,000 points in 2021, and at the end of 2023 Geopost announced already 100,000 points in Europe. Although the goal was to reach 100,000 collection points by 2025, we achieved this two years earlier.

With a 25% growth in parcels delivered outside the home in 2023 compared to 2022, Geopost has shown strong activity in this area, thanks to the support of a strong network. DPD Slovenia also contributed to the growth and expansion, as we already have more than 840 collection points, of which more than 200 are DPD parcel lockers, throughout Slovenia.

Non-financial results were also published for the first time

Sustainability remains at the heart of everything we in Geopost and DPD do. We continue to strive to become an international reference in the field of sustainable delivery, especially since we have both short-term and long-term Net Zero goals up to 2040 confirmed by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) since 2023. Thus, Geopost has become the first global parcel delivery company, to which the SBTi approved CO2 emission reduction targets.

In line with this direction, Geopost aims to radically reduce its absolute greenhouse gas emissions from scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 43% by 2030 and by 90% by 2040 (compared to 2020).

In addition, we were an additional 2,500 low-emission vehicles in 2023, bringing the fleet to more than 9,000 low-emission vehicles. The goal by 2025 remains that deliveries will be made exclusively with low-emission vehicles in 350 European cities.

We also report that for the second year in a row we have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by -25,673 tons (-1.4% compared to 2022).
