Kaiserslautern/Aschaffenburg, May 19th, 2025 - DPD Germany is continuing to invest in the expansion of its network: a new, ultra-modern parcel sorting centre is currently being built in Kaiserslautern. The new depot in the West Palatinate region will utilise state-of-the-art technology and high sustainability standards. Around 130 employees will work at the new depot in future.
Following the ground-breaking ceremony in February 2025, the foundations have now been poured. Commissioning is planned for the end of this year.
With our new depot in Kaiserslautern, we are not only strengthening our capacities in the region, but also setting standards in terms of energy efficiency and sustainable logistics.

Sustainable technology and comprehensive charging infrastructure
Both the office building and the hall areas are supplied by modern heating and cooling systems based on heat pumps. In addition, a photovoltaic system with an output of around 600 kWp will be installed - enough energy to cover the annual requirements of around 200 households. Green roofs on the administration building and hall as well as 80 charging points for cars, Sprinters and trucks underline the sustainable concept of the site.
Efficient technology for fast parcel handling
The centrepiece of the new depot is a modern sorting system that quietly and reliably sorts up to 5,500 parcels per hour. Permanent technical monitoring of the conveyor technology enables predictive maintenance and increases operational reliability.
Construction progress on schedule
In the coming weeks, the final technical planning will be coordinated before trial operation starts at the end of November. The parcel volume will be gradually increased until the depot can handle around 100 tours a day for the Kaiserslautern region when fully operational.
Bremer Bau GmbH from Karlsruhe is the general contractor responsible for the construction.
With the new depot DPD Germany is continuing its strategy of expanding its network in a future-proof manner and at the same time assuming ecological responsibility.
