DPD uses provider-neutral micro-depot in Ludwigsburg
In Ludwigsburg DPD Germany is now delivering parcels with zero emissions using cargo bikes. For this purpose the international parcel and express service provider is using a provider-neutral area on the Franck site made available by the municipality. This can be used as a micro-depot until the end of the year.
Thanks to its central location near the railway station, the micro-depot is at the heart of a mixed area where primarily private consignees and small businesses are located. Accordingly, the location is very well suited for parcel delivery with cargo bikes in terms both of the consignee structure and its accessibility. At the start of the new cooperation DPD will initially use a cargo bike for locally emission-free parcel delivery. Up to 80 parcels a day will be delivered at the start of operations, with an expansion of the service and the parcel volumes planned for the future.
