Questions and answers about tyre shipping

How should tyres be packaged?

Tyres should either be packed in sturdy cardboard boxes or with special tear-resistant film. This prevents damage during transport and ensures smooth handling. Detailed packaging guidelines and permitted packaging materials are available in the info sheet. Deviations from these conditions may result in additional charges. 

What additional services are available for companies?

How is dispatch organised when the season changes?

Can I send tyres as a private consignor?

As a private shipper, you have the following options:

  • You can send your tyres fully packed in cardboard packaging via our online portal myDPD. 
  • Alternatively, you can use the specialised tyre shipping solution of our subsidiary iloxx.

Can I order a one-off shipment of tyres as a business?

One-off dispatch is also possible for commercial customers - but only under certain conditions:

  • You can send your tyres fully packed in cardboard boxes via our online portal myDPD.
  • Alternatively, you can use the specialised tyre shipping solution of our subsidiary iloxx.

What shipping conditions apply to international shipping?

The following applies to shipments to the Nordic countries (DK, FI, IS, NO and SE):

  • Tyres to Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden can only be transported in individual shipments.
  • Tyres to Denmark, Finland, Norway and Iceland can only be transported in cardboard envelopes.
  • For Sweden, please note that tyres in wrapping film must be fully wrapped or fully packed in cardboard.
  • Special conditions can be requested for shipments with 4 parcels identified as tyres.

The previously mentioned shipping and packaging conditions apply accordingly to deliveries to all other European countries.

Which tyre sizes can I ship?

Car tyres up to a maximum girth of 300 cm (length + 2x width + 2x height) can be shipped via DPD - this generally corresponds to standard car tyre sizes. System-compliant packaging is important. You can find more detailed information on packaging in our tyre shipping information sheet.
