Here you will find questions and our answers relating to the subject of receiving parcels. We will tell you how to track and redirect your parcel, give you answers about parcel delivery, the ParcelLock box and how to evaluate our services.
According to all that is known so far, there is no increased health risk associated with signing on the handheld scanner. Based on current knowledge, transmission of the coronavirus through contact with parcel surfaces is extremely unlikely.
However, as a precautionary measure, personal confirmation of receipt by signature at the private front door is suspended for the time being. In addition, for the moment small, flat parcels of a suitable size can be put in the consignee's letterbox.
In order to avoid direct contact as a precautionary measure, you as the consignee of the parcel can also help us in a very concrete way:
Provide us with a deposit okay, so that the delivery driver can leave the parcel without direct customer contact, for example in the garden shed, in the garage or in front of the apartment door. Observe the hygiene regulations and avoid any physical contact. This rule is also followed by our delivery personnel.
Please check, especially in the case of commercial delivery addresses, whether parcel delivery to the addressee is actually possible. In Germany and numerous EU countries, many shops have to be closed on official orders.
Exceptions to this rule are, among others, food retailers, drugstores, banks, wholesalers, beverage markets, pharmacies, medical supply stores, dry cleaners, building, gardening and pet supplies stores. The regulations may vary in the individual federal states.
You will find more detailed information on the regulations in other European countries below.
DPD is working to ensure that as many of its parcel shops as possible can continue to be used as usual. We will clarify with the shop operators as soon as possible which locations can still be used.
Until this clarification has been completed, the drop-off and pickup of parcels at the shops is temporarily suspended. In order to avoid the possibility that the parcels of our customers and consignees may be unavailable for weeks due to the closure of shops ordered by the authorities, DPD has collected from the parcel shops those parcels which are currently in storage there.
We anticipate that a large number of parcel shops will be available again in the near future, and will keep you up to date on this here.
Parcel deliveries and collections in Germany are in general being implemented as normal, as long as this is not restricted by the local authorities. The delivery and collection of parcels in our parcel shop network has been suspended for a short time (see "How is DPD dealing with Pickup parcelshops in the current situation). The delivery options "Favourite parcelshop" and "Specified neighbour" are also currently not available.
Current border closures within Europe do NOT currently apply to the movement of goods.
Nevertheless, delays in international parcel shipping may occur due to border controls. This applies in particular to the movement of goods to Poland, Austria and Italy, where there are considerable bottlenecks and waiting times at border crossings.
In individual regions - above all in Italy - it is also not possible to deliver or collect parcels due to official directives. A list of detailed postcode areas can be found here for DPD CLASSIC and here for DPD EXPRESS.
You will find more detailed information on individual regions with existing restrictions below.

There are exceptions, especially for food retailing, pharmacies and petrol stations.
The United Kingdom government has taken additional measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Because of these measures, all non-essential businesses are now closed. As a result all DPD Pickup parcelshops in the UK are temporarily closed, and parcel delivery or collection is currently not possible there.
In spite of this DPD is still delivering parcels as usual in the UK, and goods are still being shipped from Germany. Delays in delivery are possible, however.
We give each parcel its own parcel number. On the basis of this number you can track the progress of your parcel in myDPD or in your app, and if necessary arrange for delivery on a different day or to a different location.
If your parcel is at the delivery centre you can arrange for a new delivery in myDPD or in our app. You simply enter the parcel number and the location and date for the delivery.
In order to redirect your delivery to a different place or day, you enter your parcel number in myDPD or in our app. After that you can select the option for when and where we make the delivery.
As a rule domestic parcels are delivered within two days from the start of the order. In the case of international parcels the delivery time depends on the country of destination. You will find all the information about your parcel in myDPD and the DPD App. For business customers the delivery times for international parcels are displayed in our Delivery-time calculator.
As the consignee you decide when or where we deliver the parcel. You can choose from four redirection options in order to have your parcel delivered the way it suits you best. You normally receive an email with the parcel number. If we have not located you at home, you will also find the parcel number on the parcel notification card which we leave in your letterbox. In the parcel tracking function four redirection options are available to you, e.g. you can give us a deposit okay, redirect your parcel to a neighbour, a parcelshop of your choice or change the day of delivery. In your "Preferences" you can register the type of delivery which is generally the most suitable for you.
ParcelLock is a locking system which can be integrated in any kind of parcel box or other parcel container. The code-based opening mechanism enables multiple opening and closing of the container, which means that on any given day shipments can be placed inside the container by various service providers. In addition it also enables the sending of parcels and return shipments, which means that you can conveniently receive and ship parcels with your parcel box even if you aren't at home.
You can use the ParcelLock system to send and receive your DPD parcels. To be able to use your parcel box for shipping with DPD, register on parcellock.de with your name and address and release DPD for the use of your parcel box. You can then enter your ParcelLock ID in the "Pickup from ParcelLock" option for returns. To receive parcels in your parcel box, you have to provide a parking permit for DPD in your ParcelLock user account. Once this is set up, we will always deliver your parcels in your ParcelLock box. Please pay attention to your delivery preferences, which you have specified under Paketnavigator.de or in the DPD app, for example the shipment to a Pickup parcelshop.
We regret that at present you can only send a single parcel from your parcel box. Please note that a pickup will not be possible if your ParcelLock box contains more than one parcel.
If you wish to use your parcel box for sending or returning parcels with DPD, you need to link the box with myDPD or DPD App account. After the link has been created the online portal displays the options: "Collection from ParcelLock" and "Return from ParcelLock". If you have set the link but the options are still not displayed, please check your settings in myDPD or DPD App (Profile).
At parcellock.de you can find out about the currently available parcel boxes and systems with Parcellock system.
After you have received your parcel you can rate our delivery service in the myDPD or in our app. Simply enter your parcel number and give the service a maximum of five stars. In addition you can, with selected delivery personnel, provide a digital tip on PayPal with just a few clicks of the mouse. We look forward to receiving your feedback!
If you have already given a rating for a delivery, this can no longer be changed. Please note that ratings do not refer to individual delivery personnel and are not connected with them. Instead ratings are evaluated anonymously on a collective basis.
You can conveniently give our delivery personnel a tip online, if you are not at home when the delivery is made. Simply give your rating for our delivery service and then select the amount which you wish to transfer to the delivery driver on PayPal. Please note that not all drivers have created a free PayPal account, and that the option of giving an online tip is not available for every individual driver.
If the contents of the parcel are damaged when they reach you, you should first contact the consignor. We can only investigate the case and inspect the damage on the instructions of the consignor.
If the status of the parcel tracking has not changed for several days, please get in touch with our team. We will then be happy to support you.
