Is the email I have received from DPD real or false?
Unfortunately, nowadays it is becoming more and more common for people to attempt fraud on the internet, via e-mail, text message or Whatsapp. They try to persuade you to transfer money. Or they try to collect data about so-called parcel deliveries. Sometimes the name of DPD is also used. DPD NEVER asks to transfer money in advance unless you expect a package from the United Kingdom for which you still have to pay import duties. DPD will then send an email that ALWAYS contains a 14-digit parcel number. Enter it in the Track & Trace on dpd.nl so that you are sure that it is genuine.
Sell via Marketplace
We ask special attention for sellers on Marktplaats. There are examples that a private person sells something and indicates that DPD is coming to collect the package and that you must then give an envelope with contact money. DPD will NEVER ask for cash. A seller can buy a label, stick it on a package and send it via a DPD parcel point.
