Aschaffenburg, June 8th 2026 - DPD Germany is making parcel pickup at its Pickup parcel shops even more customer-friendly and digital: Starting June 9, with the new “Pickup Pass,” recipients will receive a personal QR code that allows them to pick up their parcels faster and more easily. The new service is another step toward a fully digital customer journey within DPD’s Out-of-home network.
Customers automatically receive the QR code in the email notifying them that their parcel is ready for pickup at the Pickup parcel shop. When picking up the parcel, the Pickup Pass simply needs to be presented and scanned at the shop. This completely eliminates the need for the manual search and presentation of the parcel number that was previously required. Especially in larger parcel shops with high shipment volumes, the QR code ensures significantly faster package retrieval and more efficient processes—for both shop operators and recipients.
This innovation is made possible by a software update to the Pickup systems, which enables the direct reading and processing of QR codes within the shop software.
With the Pickup Pass, we’re making package pickup even easier, more convenient, and faster for our customers. Especially in busy parcel shops, the QR code helps locate shipments faster and reduce wait times. At the same time, we’re laying the groundwork for a fully digital pickup process in the future.
Peter Weilke, Director Out-of-home at DPD Germany
Until now, customers had to present their parcel number upon pickup, which was used to locate the shipment at the parcel shop. In the future, simply showing the QR code on a smartphone will suffice. Scanning the code allows for direct identification of the shipment and shortens the entire handover time.
The Pickup Pass is just the beginning: Looking ahead, DPD is working on a fully digital pickup process that will allow recipients to collect parcels without ID or a power of attorney. With the nationwide rollout of the Pickup Pass, DPD is taking another step toward a modern, consistent, and user-friendly Out-of-home experience.
