To make sure that your shipping with DPD is trouble-free we've put together all the most important information for you here. If you follow these tips and references we'll make sure that your parcels reach the consignee in time and intact.

What you need to keep in mind for your parcel shipping.

Information for trouble-free shipping

  1. Packing instructions: Every parcel must be packed securely so that it is suitable for automated sorting and transport.

  2. Exclusions from shipment: there are some goods we can't transport, such as live animals, weapons and especially valuable goods such as precious metals and gems. Please note our GTC and the list of excluded goods.

  3. Weights and dimensions: parcels can have a maximum weight of 31.5 kg, a maximum girth (combined circumference + longest side) of 300 cm and a length (longest side) of 175 cm. Would you like to know if your parcel has the right dimensions? Simply use our parcel size calculator.

Proof of delivery (POD)

You would like to be sure that your parcel has arrived safely? DPD’s proof of delivery (POD) is the answer. For a small additional charge you will receive a POD confirming the successful delivery.

Import Service

In international shipping from abroad DPD offers you a comprehensive service for your import shipments. Our aim is to make your import operations as simple as possible. We take care of the efficient customs clearance of your shipments directly at Frankfurt airport, and keep you informed about the progress of your import parcels right up to the time of delivery.
DPD offers you competitively priced and reliable import solutions, for example for parcels, documents and freight shipments from other continents. Benefit from our Import Service – including collection, customs clearance and delivery.

Crisis region surcharge

For deliveries to crisis regions (e.g. because of political disturbances or conflicts in the area etc.) there may be a surcharge of EUR 25.00. The following countries are currently classed as crisis regions and subject to a surcharge:

  • Afghanistan
  • Iraq
  • Mali
  • Palestine
  • South Sudan
  • Syria
  • Central African Republic

Address correction

If the consignee address isn't correct we will do everything in our power to deliver the shipment to the correct address in spite of this. By the way: In myDPD you can easily do this yourself.

Customs clearance

We take care of it: we carry out routine customs formalities at extra cost. A range of delivery terms from DAP to DDP are available.

Security surcharge

The security surcharge consists of three components:

  1. Analogue security: includes prevention of terrorism through random checks (carried out by an authorised external service provider), increasing cooperation with the authorities and an appropriate IT structure.

  2. Digital security: covers the protection of internal communication devices and the internal network, training of employees on Internet risks and data protection and an appropriate IT structure.

  3. Healthcare: includes preventive measures to contain infectious diseases, occupational safety measures and general health and safety measures for our employees.

Excess size/weight and special parcel properties (nc parcels)

Outsize parcels exceed the upper limit for our standard parcels:

  • Max. weight: 31.5 kg

  • Max. length: 175 cm, and 120 cm with our international Express Service (Exceptions apply according to the price list and special agreement)

  • Maximum girth: 300 cm

  • Girth = circumference + longest side

  • Volumetric weight: airfreight parcels are priced on the basis of volumetric weight in cases where this exceeds the actual weight in kg. More information is available here.

  • There is a surcharge for especially bulky parcels with a volume of more than 150 L.

Customs clearance

We take care of it: we carry out routine customs formalities at extra cost. A range of delivery terms from DAP to DDP are available.

Treibstoffzuschlag

Energy surcharges at DPD - always based on the current prices for diesel and kerosene.

DPD charges a surcharge to cover the fluctuating costs for power and fuel.
