Geopost: Economic stability in challenging times

Aschaffenburg, 6th March, 2024: Geopost, the French parent company of DPD Deutschland GmbH, achieved a turnover of 15.69 billion euros last year (up 0.7 per cent). The number of parcels delivered worldwide also remained stable at a high level, totalling 2.1 billion or around eight million per day (down 0.6 percent). These results demonstrate Geopost's entrepreneurial expertise in adapting quickly and systematically to changing economic market conditions.

The operating result (EBIT) totalled 330 million euros in the past financial year. Adjusted for significant one-off effects, such as the impairment of assets at DPD Russia, EBIT totalled 635 million euros. The business activities in Germany, France, the UK and Italy accounted for more than 55 per cent of Geopost's total turnover in the reporting period.

2023 was another challenging year for us. Nevertheless, we successfully completed it with stable revenues and parcel volumes. In a complex market environment, our teams once again demonstrated their resilience and agility. Together, we launched forward-looking projects to maintain our operational performance and drive forward our ambitious sustainability agenda. One example of this is the confirmation of our net zero targets by the Science Based Targets initiative - a great success and a confirmation of our commitment to climate protection. We are more convinced than ever of our strategy and our long-term goals. We are therefore looking forward to many more successes and milestones in the coming years.

Geopost's revenue in the intra-European parcel business increased by four per cent compared to the previous year and accelerated to six per cent in the second half of the year. Geopost thus consolidated its position as the market leader in parcel delivery in Europe. In addition, the Group has successfully driven forward its international expansion strategy outside its core market in recent years. This is one of the reasons why sales in this segment increased by eight per cent. The establishment of DPD Argentina, a joint venture with the local operator TASA Logistica, further strengthened the global network.
