50 days until Christmas Eve: DPD announces shipping deadlines for parcels

Aschaffenburg, November 5th, 2024 - Christmas Eve is just 50 days away! And while it's getting colder and colder outside, the hot phase of the year begins at DPD: because traditionally a particularly large number of parcels are sent in the run-up to Christmas. Up to 11,000 delivery staff are on duty every day at Germany's second-largest parcel service provider alone to successfully handle the increased parcel volume. To ensure that all parcels can be delivered in time for Christmas Eve, consignments should be posted by the following days at the latest:

  • National parcels: For standard parcels, 20 December 2024 is the last collection day.
  • Express parcels: These can be posted until 23 December 2024, as deliveries will still be made on 24 December 2024.
  • International parcels: Depending on the destination country, these should be sent by 17 December 2024 at the latest in order to arrive on time. With DPD's lead time calculator for Europe, customers can calculate the standard transit time for shipping - to the exact day, from the sender's postcode to the consignee's postcode.
  • The following applies to all DPD shipping options: parcels should be handed in at a Pickup parcelshop by 12 noon.

Especially in the run-up to Christmas many of us have our hands full. Instead of waiting at home for delivery, our customers can pick up their parcels at a Pickup parcelshop - when and where it best suits their daily routine. Our delivery staff are fully committed to ensuring that the presents arrive on time - and thus bring a sparkle to the eyes of young and old alike on Christmas Eve.

In addition to traditional doorstep delivery, DPD is offering even more out-of-home delivery options in the run-up to Christmas thanks to its new network partnership with GLS - a flexible and convenient alternative that is ideal in the hectic pre-Christmas period. DPD will increase the number of parcel shops by around 20 per cent to up to 10,000 by the end of the year. This means even more drop-off and collection points and thus even more service for the parcel service provider's customers.
